and conductivity testing
NASA, Cleveland June 2011-
August 2011
Student Intern-Material Science Department
. Topic of my research was "Abrasion of Space suit Fabrics with Lunar
Simulant." We wanted to find a way to duplicate the damage done to the
space suit after 9 hours of atmosphere contact here on earth, so in
return we can find a material strong enough to withstand the aggressive
abrasion of lunar particles.
. The center of my research was an apparatus( horizontal 6 inch rotation
disk, with two vertical 4 inch rotation disk on top(one clockwise, and
another counter clockwise), with weights pulling back the wheels so an
equal amount of pressure is distributed evenly throughout the surface.
Which I had to calibrate when needed to change the specifications of the
testing.
