Act as MAPS (Monitoring Avian Productivity and Survivorship) and TMAPS (Tropical MAPS)

coordinator for 5 ongoing bird-banding projects in the United States, Canada, Mariana Islands

and American Samoa each calendar year. Responsible for permitting, recruiting, training and

supervising intern biologists each season. Responsible for data management, data verification

and annual report writing. Coordinated logistics of all projects, including gear and transportation,

with field crews and government agency, military, and environmental consulting partners.

Submitted bird banding data to Bird Banding Laboratory via Bandit.

Field Experience:

Institute for Bird Populations, Yosemite National Park, CA MAPS Biologist, May 1, 2012 –

August 8, 2012 and May 1, 2011-August 8, 2011

Led two-week MAPS bird banding training session. Instructed up to twelve interns on how to

properly extract, handle, identify, band and age passerines of the Pacific Northwest, while

following MAPS protocol. Lead a crew of two interns in the management of 6 MAPS stations in

Yosemite National Park. Assisted with banding demonstration days with National Park Staff.

Banded ~560 birds in 2012, and 597 birds in 2011.

Institute for Bird Populations, Saipan, CNMI – Intern Biologist, November 09, 2011 – March

31, 2012

Manage 6 TMPAS stations and collect Molt data for ongoing research of endemic species.

Banded roughly 600 birds.

Klamath Bird Observatory, Klamath Falls, OR – Bird Banding Intern, August 22, 2011 –

Managed 14 Migration Stations throughout the Siskiyou Region of Southern Oregon and

Northern California. Gained experience extracting, banding, ageing, and collecting

morphological data of passerines using KBO protocol. Responsible for data entry (Access) and

vehicle maintenance. Obtained NABC Certification at Bander Level in 2010. Acted as an

instructor during a 5-day banding workshop in 2011. Got NABC Certification at Trainer Level in

2011. Banded ~800 birds in 2010 and 579 birds in 2011.
