KEY PROJECTS

1) USRM (Universal session and resource manager) application - (HCL-CISCO)

Description:

USRM is an integral component of the Cisco Service Exchange Network. Based

on standard Intel/Linux Server.USRM supports all major VOD (Video on

Demand) and SDV (Switched Digital Video) interfaces and protocols.USRM is

integrated with DBDS and enables system to distribute and scale the real

time session and resource management functions of the DNCS.

Role: Lead Test Automation Engineer

Contribution:

Testing framework was developed using python to develop and execute

automation test cases.

Automation of test cases for various vendors like TSTV, Comcast was done

using python. Execution of automated test cases was carried out for each

application using a test list file consisting of the test case id and once

it ran without errors was scheduled in nightly run. Report of test cases

ran would be generated and emailed to mailbox.

Handled team of four efficiently, assisted in understanding application and

trained team members in python. Ensured team members developed test cases

based on client requirement, reviewed the code periodically developed by

team members.

2) DNCS (Digital Network Control System) and DTACS (Digital Transport

Adapter application) (HCL-CISCO)

Description:

DNCS is the application which provided the necessary functionalities for

the set-top box like creating session, providing VOD.Also worked on the

DTACS application which provides functionalities for DTA device.

Role: Lead Test Engineer

Contribution:

Automation of User interface test cases was carried out for application

using the automation tool

Parasoft 9.0.Execution of automation suite developed was done for every

release and fine tuning of failures reported in each run. Automation report

for each release would be generated and emailed with pass and fail test

cases count.

3) Porting project (Porting from Solaris to Linux domain)

Description:

This project mainly dealt with porting of commands from Solaris (both Sparc

and x86 based

Architecture) to Linux for higher performance and scalability of the

existing legacy products.

Telecom trainings undergone: UMTS and basic telecom trainings.

Role: Senior project engineer

Operating System(s): Sun Solaris 9 & 10, UNIX, Open Solaris (MontaVista

Linux / Red Hat Linux)

Contribution:

This project required porting of commands from Solaris to linux.It required

making changes in the script (Perl and ksh shell scripts) files so that

telecom products could run successfully on both Solaris and Linux.

Various categories of changes were involved for the project.

Category I: Command output is different in both the platforms.

Category II: Command exists in one platform whereas it does not exist in

another platform.

Category III: Same command has different usage in both the platforms.

Involved in providing training to 15 team members in Ksh as well as Perl.

Hands on basic usage of scripts were imparted. Also Perl scripts were

written to get the number of c, cpp and h files from the codebase,

4) Services tools Applications

Description:

This set of applications mainly deals with the providing service to the

customer by gathering the system related information via various tools

which finally helps them to check the status of their machine regularly.

Such services are used widely and all the needs of the customer were met

regularly.

Contribution:

This project required working on change requests, understands the customer

needs and providing enhancements to the existing service provided. All the

application was in UNIX shell scripting and C.

It also required constant communication with customer for the escalations

and queries.

4) ConfigDB

Description:

This was a project in computing domain which mainly dealt with the scanning

and parsing of customer information which was send in the form of an

archive. ConfigDB processed the various system details present in the

archive and stored in NFS as well as in oracle database. It had mainly bug

fixes for the various scenarios when the data which was collected in

various files was not correctly updated or data insertions not happened in

database. Maintenance of information in database and verifying whether the

information is correctly updated to database. Analyze any possible

potential problems could be present at the customer machines. There were

other UDA's as the part of the application which were written in Core Java

as well as in Java Servlets.They were Portal or UI to display the system

details and also a SCRUBBER applications scheduled to run Via Cron which

would delete the confidential information present in the database

regularly.

Contribution:

Working on the change requests, handling escalations in the applications

and in the development of horizontally scalable parsers which was an

redesign of the application to improve performance.

This project required constant communication with customers and client and

also handling lot of escalations from customers in time. Was able to

communicate effectively and could provide timely update to customers.

5) Middleware development of media player

Description

This project dealt with designing a customized, modular, scalable and a

portable UI and application to be built on top of a unified middleware. The

application demonstrated the capabilities of a PNX0103 Media player IC

using a PNX0103 Unified Middleware. The final product supported

functionalities like Audio, video playback of various track formats, tuner,

picture viewing and recording.

Role: Quality Engineer / Project Engineer

Contribution:

Initially joined quality assurance team in which validated the whole

product and helped in identifying various bugs or issues in the product.

Then was part of the middleware team as a developer. Effective in fixing

the bugs reported by the client. Prepared the necessary test cases and test

plans and executed that. Played a vital role in release documentation and

release activities during every release. Timely updating the progress of

tasks assigned done and at the end of day status report sent to leads and

peers. Active and healthy interaction with the team members for any

dependencies. Worked with all tools and hardware's provided by the client

(ARM debugger, Test generator).Worked in PNX0103 and PNX0130 chip. Was also

involved in the porting of Zenitron from PNX0103 chip to PNX0130.

6) Media player

Description

This project dealt with complete design and implementation of the

middleware component for a multi-instance media player application that

supported all the required functionalities like Audio playback, ripping,

importing tracks and play lists, deleting and recording. The product was

designed for ADIT, the final end product of which was to be used in BMW

cars. The design had room for multiple instances of the application to be

run at the same time so that more than a single user could have a

synchronous access to the database.
