Assist in monitoring computer operations for the NCC (EPA National Computer Center). Responsibilities
include: maintaining the IBM mainframe, HPC (NESC), the BES (Blackberry) server, Lotus Notes
(Email), WebEOC, FDMS (Federal Docket Management System), SAN Management Console, NT, and
UNIX platforms; assisting user groups such as Data Management and IBM systems, with nightly
backups; data set restoration; and troubleshooting. Perform duties in the NCC print room, such as minor
printer maintenance and print distribution. Maintain the SOP (Standard Operating Procedures) manual
for Operations and DPSS (Data Processing Support Services). Process print for mailing (Express mail,
Federal Express, UPS, and regular mail), order supplies for the department, process foreign tapes, receive
and send U-mail and E-mail to customers as needed, process billing of foreign tapes, and answer phones.
Along with working as a Computer Operator, I also work in the DSS (Distributed Systems Support)
group. Some of the duties are maintaining Jump Box software updates, maintaining Jump Box accesses,
process CSIRC Vulnerability Alerts, and write firewall rules for systems as needed. I have been working
in this group from 3/2012-Present.
All of these duties have been performed under different EPA contractors: SAIC (Science Applications
International Corporation), CSC (Computer Sciences Corporation), OAO Technology Solutions, Inc., and
Lockheed Martin.
