For more than 35 years I've disciplined computer product development, test and manufacturing.
As a quick learner I update my technical and people skills constantly. My mentoring style excels
in on-site, face to face deployment and support. I am a skilled customer and marketing
technology translator.
The focus of my career has me integrating hardware/software into vertical scientific and
commercial OEM markets. As markets and technology evolves I'm pleased supporting and
maintaining legacy products while formulating the architectural updates (SW and HW) needed to
support the best forward looking re-implementation of products for the current marketplace.
My career started in real-time embedded Single Board Computer (Firmware) product
development. I received a BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago specializing in
computer controlled art and video installations. I developed Target Resident Languages (TRL’s)
for HW Vendors, including working on the Open Boot Standards leading to EUFI. I was taught
Real Time Unix andC++ at Bell Labs Indian Hill campus. With theses skills I've architect-ed,
programmed, manufactured and tested clinical laboratory and scientific test instruments
I've participated in development, documentation, and integration of n-tier client server systems -
commercial, business and government. I have contract HW/SW delivery experience, and am
currently working with my hardware partner M. Simon of Space-Time Productions producing
more TRL’s for Arm micro-controllers, and developing QT Framework Fluency.
I believe it is in our mutual interest to utilize my experience and dedication in your team. I look
forward to hearing from you regarding my matches to your needs.

I am the principle Architect for Embedded Software for Arm devices, providing a FLASH based
stand alone development language compiler for our custom hardware. I bring-up the hardware
and debug software and services with my software. Our development boards target hobbyist and
industrial prototyping. I use IAR EWARM and LPCxpresso (Eclipse) Development IDE to code
in ARM assembler, C and C++.
We are a self funded start-up, developing products based on our in-house developed hardware
and software.

Exercising functionality, HW and SW installation in a structured test environment. Perform HW
diagnostics, and verify functional operation of HP peripherals: scanners, mopiers, and digital
cameras. Occasionally worked on-site at HP. Tests require multiple environment configuration
and diagnosis of USB 1&2, FireWire, SCSI, and BlueTooth connectivity issues, on multiple
language/versions and varying load conditions of all MS and Unix/Linux OS’s. Provided end
user and in-house support document editing.

I contracted to extend NT/SQL 3-tier Intra\Internet retirement administration SQL DB systems
for the State of Idaho. I implemented an XML EDI Web Service using C++/MFC, VB, Python,
php IIS, ASP, JScript, MTS/ADO, MSXML, and DCOM. I administered the initial web site with
python and php on NT servers. I participated in multi agency load testing and security audits.
Implemented FC-AL SAN backup strategies. I used Access, Excel macros and scripting for data
mining, report generation for Actuary and State Board. I also performed data cleanup,
warehousing, and in house user support.

7/99 –5/01 Manufacturing and Test Engineer 1
208-***-**** Bob Sadler
Shipped 3,000 Extreme Networks’ switches a week as primary Manufacturing and Test Engineer
1. Setup lines, wrote tests, produced on-line steps, trained operators and managed production
staff, all the while analyzing and upgrading tests. Customer issues resolved included post silicon
validation of BGA (SERDES) and wave solder yield issues, utilizing X-ray (2-3/D),
HALT/HASS, HP 3070 ICT & JTAG/TAP. Analyzed test and protocol/inter-op failures with Lab
View and VXI based protocol analyzers and traffic generators. Used NT and Linux hosted tools
(TCL/VB/Java/jscript/Sockets/Streams) targeting customers embedded HW/VxWorks RTOS to
develop and run tests. Provided custom device reprogramming, test network and customer
gateway VPN. I provided value added testing and maintained ISO/QS/QA certificate compliance.
I worked with customer HW and SW engineers to implement advanced DFM/DFT. Traveled
extensively to facilitate new product kick-offs, and present manufacturing, test and production
line setup and capability. Provided metrics and improvements to management and customers.
Assisted in Nokia and 3COM production.
Access Express Ltd. My entrepreneurial concern
7-97 –3/99 USB 1.1 product development and sales.
I partnered with a retired naval engineer to develop, market and sell USB peripherals we
manufactured for automation and process control markets, competing with
Honeywell/GPIB/Labworks/VXI instrumentation for small laboratory and shop placement.
Spur Products Inc.
11/96 –5/97 Systems Engineer
208-***-**** Jim McMillan
I helped develop their Enterprise Print Server product. Administered development environment
and integrated NT services for Netware\Unix\Windows and administered test environments,
including Mainframe Bus & Tag and APPC token ring routing emulation. Developed 2-minute
installation CD (prior to Ghost) and utilized hardware profiles to install different hardware
configurations from single source release code. I coded several device drivers for mainframe
printers and wrote end user utilities. I produced documentation for installation, administration
and field service.
data-CACHE, Hitachi Boise Technical Center –Project moved to Japan
3/92 –7-96 Sr. Programmer
Bob Hartmann PhD - Founded on his PhD thesis. Managers Joel Just, Steve Holland.
I helped design, manufacture and test mainframe reliability class HW and OO (C++) SW for
Massively Parallel SQL DB, with embedded NT front end. 120-node 5 terabyte EIS system
shipped, each node a shared nothing PowerPC SBC with Transputer based toroidal mesh
interconnect. I worked with SR Hardware engineers to bring-up and debug prototypes, software
engineers using vender BSP’s to provide VME hosted prototypes. I wrote the bi-endian boot
debug monitor, used Corelis JTAG to network images to prototypes as loaders and defined test
points for HW bring up. Programmed 24x7 front panel hot swap I/O, SCSI mult-LUN drivers
RAID/DLT tape libraries, and ESCON to IP protocol mesh. I coded BCP and other SQL library
utilities from scratch. Also prototyped SHARC, TI DSP with RACEWAY and early FIBRE
channel attached I/O boards to support our toroidal mesh architecture, as well as Pentium, MIPS
and ARM as main processors. I was in charge of evaluation of RTOS for the system and almost
chose QNX for it's smaller footprint and built in networking but their lack of streams support (at
the time) would have hindered my development of IBM ESCON protocol stacks. There were 2
other issues with QNX at the time, PowerPC and MMU support. (I have used QNX in some
small HVAC controller contracts). I chose to assist VxWorks in completing their port to the
PowerPC for the newest generations MMU to implement the data-CACHE system..
