Center for Applied Energy Research - Intern (Nov 2013-Aug 2014)
. Synthesize and characterize cathode materials for electrochemical
energy storage.
. Setup cyclic voltammetry scans for electrochemical measurements to
determine the effectiveness of the cathodes.
. Regularly use hydrothermal synthesis and carbon activation techniques.

University of Kentucky - Research Assistant (May 2013-Nov 2013)
. I custom-fabricated an electro-chemical cell for anodizing patterned
aluminum.
. Regularly used photolithography to fabricate anodized aluminum oxide
membranes patterned with Al for mechanical support.
. Reviewed relevant literature to determine most effective fabrication
method.
. Tested conductive polymers to see if they work with 3D printers.
. Reference: Dr. Bruce J. Hinds (*******@****.***.***)
University of Kentucky - Research Assistant -NASA Thermo-electrics project
(Summer 2012 - spring 2013)
Sucessfully synthesized nanostructured Co0.6Fe 0.9Mn 1.5O 4, exhibiting
three dimensional patterns at the nanoscale, in polycrystalline ceramics
and bulk single crystals.( currently being evaluated for their potential as
high performance "electron-crystal phonon-glass"thermoelectric materials)
. Studied phase decomposition behavior of Co0.6Fe 0.9Mn 1.5O 4
. Conducted a density study to obtain 99% dense ceramics.
. Performed various heat treatment processes to ensure correct phase.
. Synthesized single crystals of Co0.6Fe 0.9Mn 1.5O 4
. Synthesized and characterized CoMn2O4 and CoFe2O4, determined the
optimal sintering conditions that yield >98%density ceramics.
. Developed a furnace apparatus for high temperature crystal growth.
. Successfully grew single crystals of CoMn2O4 and CoFe2O4.
. Reference: Dr.Richard Eitel ******@*******.***, Dr.Matthew J. Beck
