Research Experience
Student Researcher, Senior Thesis: Design and Construction of the Flow System for the Union College Aerogel Lab's Second
Generation Catalytic Converter Test Bed, Union College Mechanical Engineering Dept 2013-2014
• Completed design, construction and automation of a flow system to mimic a car engine that will be connected to a larger test bed to test the
capabilities of Aerogels as replacements for catalytic converters.
Student Researcher, Improved Pressurized Burst Testing of Ballistic Self-Healing in Ionomers, Union College 2012- 2013
• Built, automated (in Matlab and Simulink) and debugged a Pressure Burst Tester in order to study the mechanical properties of self- healing
polymers, then compared the burst pressures of undamaged samples to damaged and healed samples. I also drafted a user manual for the
device.
Student Researcher, Theater Mechanics of the Renaissance and Baroque Periods, Union College Theater Dept 2011-2012
• A self-designed project where I studied the mechanics of moving scenery in the theater during the Renaissance and Baroque Periods then
created a working scaled model to demonstrate these techniques.
