Client: Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE) – Lead Tester Mar 2007 – Sept 2010

Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE), the largest U.S. options exchange and creator of listed options, continues to set the bar for options trading through product innovation, trading technology and investor education.

Projects

* Testing Automation: CBOE has developed a Propriety test tool known as ITG by which testing of the whole system can be done in a very short time span. Frequent changes in the system needs the test tool to be enhanced to test newly added functionality, and that enhancement was given to the Cognizant.

The project Test management, Functional Testing of newly Enhancement to the CBOE Direct Trade engine and regression testing of existing application to identify defects. It has the responsibilities for providing advice and guidance regarding the functionality, use and operation of the CBOE Direct solution and to implement enhancements.

* Manual Testing: CBOE has developed its own UI for Manual Testing known as CBOEDirect by which testing of all the new functionality is done. The project Test management, Functional Testing of newly Enhancement to the CBOE Direct Trade engine to identify defects. It has the responsibilities for providing advice and guidance regarding the functionality, use and operation of the CBOE Direct solution.

* Cross Product Enhancement: The goal of this project is to provide spread book functionality between products on different underlying securities, different business clusters and different sessions. Also sometimes the order on Cross Product is marketable at away exchanges even though it is not marketable at CBOE. Re-auctioning the resting order is expected to attract users that are monitoring COA auctions.

* Directed Price Improvement: Voluntary SAL is a new auction type to be added to the CBOEDirect hybrid functionality. The functionality is to provide the incoming order a chance to look for price improvement over what is offered by the CBOE current market assuming CBOE is at the NBBO. A voluntary SAL order has the chance of executing at a price worse that what was available in the market when it came in. This is the risk/reward that is attached to the voluntary SAL order.

* COB and Auction Enhancement: Once a complex order is booked in CBOEDirect, it rests until a user decides to hit it. Sometimes the order is marketable at away exchanges even though it is not marketable at CBOE. Re-auctioning the resting order is expected to attract users that are monitoring COA auctions but not COB. Providing user and NBBO information on the COA message will better enable liquidity providers to observe and potentially provide NBBO pricing.

* Express Order: Express Order is a new order type to CBOEDirect to support the algorithmic trading whose primary objective is extremely fast order handling with no impediments. To achieve fast Order handling, both the potential for routing for manual handling and the extra time required passing through TPF may be deterrent to using CBOE for algorithmic trading i.e. Orders are routed directly to CBOEDirect

* HAL-O: The objective of this enhancement is to provide an automated trading mechanism for handling of orders when CBOE is not NBBO. Prior to this system, these orders were routed to PAR where it must be selected by the PAR Official and then sent to the trading crowd in open outcry. The HAL system automates this process and reduces the timing to a matter of seconds.

achievements and responsibilities

* Interaction with Onsite coordinator for requirement gathering.

* Analysis and design of the module.

* Coding of all of the above enhancements according to Coding Standards.

* Performing the unit testing of the module.
