PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
MICROSOFT CORPORATION, Redmond, WA 2000-Present
Software Design Engineer/Test – Windows Fundamentals, 2009-Present
As a seasoned SDET, worked on verifying windows deployment features to a higher quality bar by
designing and implementing robust and reliable test automation for 4 major windows product releases.
Increased the upgrade user experience over 25% by designing, implementing and collaborating to
onboard the upgrade performance testing into Performance lab, which resulted in discovering bugs in
the upgrade complex integration scenarios.
Implemented the data driven methodology testing using PICT (Pairwise Independent Combinatorial
Testing) tool, reducing the initial estimated 2 months API fuzzing testing to 2 weeks.
Observed that the infra-structure had lack of best Engineering practices during ramp up. All of the short
comings were discussed, along with that an estimation and execution plan was provided. Due to this
effort, WinPE test infrastructure became, reliable, robust, fast, very easy to diagnose any failures and
adaptable to any future product changes.
Proactively came up with all the testing requirements and guidelines for an SLA for all the WinPE
partners within Microsoft, due to which most of the partner issues were caught during the development
cycle.
Provided a workflow to all the partners to install WinPE in their environment which was much faster to
execute and provided a plug-in support so that the partners can add their customization, initiating all
partners to test their components/features on WinPE.
Refactored the existing FTP (Full Test Pass) tests using modular approach due to which test execution
time was reduced to 4 hours from 12 hours.
Initiated the evaluation on the usage of a test engine framework (TAEF), resulting in zero ramp-up time
needed in order for any team member to take ownership of features.
Converted manual tests to automated tests due to which the time to sign off manual testing was reduced
by 70%.
Achieved 100% target for all features with their goals by assisting, analyzing and reviewing the
assessed performance goals thereby increasing the overall performance testing by 30% in the team.
Persuaded the management to remove an existing feature of WinPE by providing information on the
adoption by the users and the reliability issues encountered during testing.
Software Design Engineer/Test – Windows Security, 2003-2009
Responsible for XrML2.0 License validation, its consumption and Security Processor.
Resolved successfully all the reliability issues of an XrML fuzzing tool which had a very complex
design, with a very little documentation. After fixing the issue, approximately 800 test cases were
executing reliably without any random test failures.
Influenced and facilitated the transitioning of a component to the partner team, thereby accelerating
their decision making process for future product releases.

Independently drove a very short deadline (2 months) project, which involved writing a robust test plan
that targeted only key functional test cases and important scenarios.
Reduced the test cost by 1 month, as a result of leveraging existing tests and obtaining a higher quality
feature. Drafted a mitigation test plan for the uncovered scenarios and got it signed off from the key
stake holders.
Implemented workflows for all test suites with features like constrains and parallelism which decreased
the FTP time from 12 hours/machine to 3 hours/3 machines.
Technologist – IT Security, 2001-2003
Primary responsible for designing and developing a secure smart card solution.
Developed utilities to streamline the automated process, involved in the deployment of smart card and
attain a rigorous goal of 240 cards/day/machine.
Analyzed, designed, implemented and tested the PIN Management tool which had a 95% Microsoft
customer satisfaction rating.
