Inquiry About a Geologist/Engineer Job Position
Dear Recruiter,
I'm contacting you in regards to securing a full time career within your company. I am very
interested in further particulars and in filling out an application form. Please take a look at my
attached resume, although a recent graduate from Texas Christian University, I have put effort
into my education as well as in the field to prepare me for real work experiences and can't wait to
officially start my career.
A background about me, I've grown up with ample amounts of time outdoors around the San
Antonio outskirts and hill country out near Kerrville and Hunt, Texas near my families ranch. I
believe growing up in these atmospheres created a lot of personal development making me who I
am today, which lead to me studying Geology in college. I have a passion for science and seeing
how our nation demands the harvesting of natural resources and I want to have the hands on
experience while putting my geologic education to use.
Earlier this Summer, I went on a 5-week field study camp through Sul Ross State University out
of Alpine, Texas where I got to have hands on experience using mapping skills starting with a
topographic map and further creating a field map based off of different contact lines between rock
bodies. Once creating a final field map, I then had to make multiple cross section maps to create
my own subsurface interpretation of what I was looking at. This was a great experience and really
allowed me to use my education to the fullest and really put everything together to understand the
parameters of mapping that I was exposed to.
I understand that I'm a recent graduate without experience working for a company but I'm more
than ready to put in my full effort and really hit the ground running starting a career in the field.
Thanks in advance for your time and I look forward to any further contact from your company.
Best Regards,
Ian Patrick Cochran
