Academic Projects: Mechanical Engineering

Design and Manufacturing of a Line Boring Fixture

< Objective: Increase inner diameter of pipe on lathe machine using cutting

tools which are fitted in rod.

< Team members and Time: Four people were involved and the duration of the

project was six months.

< Material Used: Used EN-8 material for boring rod carbide tip cutting

tools and mild steel for pipe.

< Outcome: Successfully increased the inner diameter of pipe with carbide

tip cutting tools in a single pass at acceptable cost. We have done this

project in workshop of our college in the presence of the workshop head.
