ACCOMPLISHMENTS
A s the Vice -President/Branch Manager of the Portland, Texas branch of Prosperity Bank, I took
o ve r a br a nch t ha t ha d v ery l itt l e v is ib il ity in t he comm un ity . I i mm e diat el y jo in ed th e
C hamber of Commerce and was soon asked to be on the board of directors. I h eld an " Open House"
t o invite all the Chamber members, as well as our customers and prospective customers. W e
b ecame a viable part of Portland, Texas and our little branch grew in both loans and deposits a nd
w e eventually built a new building that included a " coffee shop" that was open to the public.
A s President of Midland Teachers Credit Union (in 1984) I got rid of an antiquated computer
s ystem an d r ep la ce d it w ith a mor e f unct ional syst em th at act ua lly sa ve money for the Cr edit
U nion. I a lso elimina ted some unnecessary waste that also improved the bottom line.
