August 2010 – March 2012
• Inception, Architecture, Project Manager, and Infrastructure team
lead for rapid deployment of data centres in three count ries in to
p rovide secure multi-tenant cloud computing environments for
p harmaceutical retailers using Juniper routers, switches and
f irewalls. Worked with solution Architect on design and compliance.
Consulted with development teams to ensure that design was
compatible with applications being developed. Worked with vendor
and reseller on PoC to ensure technology met the requirements.
Responsible for design, deployment, support and documentation of
i nfrastructure (network, storage, computing) and Operational
Support Systems. Project was completed on budget in 3 months.
• Analyze the enterprise environment to design f laws in redundancy
and gaps in security. Worked with operations group to remedy
deficiencies.
• Set and documented standards for infrastructure deployments.
C reated knowledge base (document management system) to store
a ll project documentation with controlled access to appropriate
g roups. Created project workflow which ensured all projects were
t horoughly documented. Implemented peer reviews.
• Security architect for H IPA and PCI compliant network permit t ing
m ultiple health care providers to co-exist on the same physical
i nfrastructure while having a common middleware and database
p latform. Worked with PWC to ensure compliance. Produced white
paper for distribution to customers.

• Project managed migration of enterprise and service provider
i nfrastructure to new data centre at 151 Front with complete
r edundancy and fault tolerance. Took advantage of the opportunity
t o make infrastructure comply with architectural standards.
Corrected deficiencies in enterprise and service provider network
security, remote access, VPN.
• Managed team of 6 senior infrastructure architects and designers
and t ier 3&4 support.
• Responsible for internal infrastructure design of hundreds of PoS
k iosks providing remote health care to the public. Computing,
networking, scanning, credit card readers, VPN, multi-screen,
d ispensing, backup power, remote management, tamper proofing.
Design became standard for manufacturing division.
• Developed strategic relationships with vendors and service
p roviders. Manage the procurement of hardware and software
l icensing.
CONSULTANT –CERT ICOM
June – August 2010 (contract)
• Complete redesign and implementation of enterprise network to
overcome extreme unreliability. Int roduced a layered network
design that immediately stabilized operations. Resulting
i nfrastructure was extremely simple to integrate when company
was merged because it was fully documented and followed a
s tructured design.
• Worked with management and operations to ensure a smooth
t ransition of users and applications to new infrastructure.
SEN IOR CONSULTANT, CAPGEM I N I
January 2009 – June 2010
• Performed asset management for a data centre rebuild for a major

food retailer. Assets included power, network cabling, blade servers,
switching and routing, VLANs, addressing for over 2,000 vi r tual
servers.
• Ensured and provided t roubleshooting for software teams for all
connectivity and provisioning issues.
• Reviewed DNS consistency in enterprise network and identified
h undreds of deficiencies.
• Calculated Power/Cooling/Space/Cabling requirements for data
centre rebuild. Worked with contractors to ensure requirements
were met. No upgrades were required for 6 months.
SEN IOR NE TWORK ARCH I TECT, MSTARS -ROGERS
1997 – 2005
Inception and architecture of strategic initiatives to increase service
p rovider revenues.
• Develop the network infrastructure architecture standards and
r eference models.
• Lead network architect for extremely rapid design and deployment
of In ternet Service Provider core, distribution, and access
i nfrastructure when outsourced provider filed chapter 11. Customer
base was over 1.5 million subscribers. Capital budget >$25M . Saved
Rogers $12M in negotiations by having alternative network in place
i n time. Technology was mostly Cisco.
• Network architecture of provisioning data centre: t ransport,
security, and management. Assisted enterprise group with secure
access from enterprise (billing) systems and operations centre to
p rovisioning systems.
• Redesigned ISP core to defer $6M capital spending by 3 years by
optimizing the topology and leveraging the existing assets.
• Led network architecture team through a complete MPLS-VPN
overlay of the ISP network for commercial services. Access layer to
Page 4
commercial customers was over DSL and DOCSIS. MPLS backbone
was designed to support multicast and QoS. Customer QoS classes
were preserved end-to-end. Over 1000 sites were deployed at the
t ime. Developed QoS modeling standards.
• Architected HomePhone cable network overlay which was scaled to
support close to 650K subscribers VoIP subscribers with lifeline
(911) services, 99.99% availability and convergence t imes of 0.8
seconds for several thousand routes. Worked with Cisco to calculate
r eliability numbers. Today, the network provides service to over 1.2
M subscribers.
• Worked with Cisco in bleeding edge design of Usage-Based Billing
p latform which t racked every byte of t raffic for 2 million
subscribers pushing existing technology to its limits. Worked with
H P to design fully redundant anycast data collection centres design
w ith load balancing of extremely high aggregate loads. Project was
deployed but never used for billing purposes.
• Design of high-fidelity lights-out $2M ISP test facility.
• Worked with Engineering group on optical fibre t ransport to
m aximize redundancy. Also participated in Sonet, POS, and
DWDM design.
• Produced test plan and went to Cisco’s PDVC (Performance,
Design, and Validation Center) labs in Raleigh, North Carolina to
perform Proof of Concept. Also created test plan and went to Cisco
San Jose DOCSIS labs to do performance and feature testing of
cable modems on large network segments.
• Created and deployed Digital TV out-of-band network for the DTV
g roup which was validated by Scientific Atlanta (vendor). The
network serviced over 500K subscribers before being re-engineered.
Created Detailed Design, Deployment Planning, Risk Mat rices, Resource
P lanning.
Modeling of budgets, capacity planning forecasts, system availabili ty
calculations, link loading, space/power/cooling requirements.
