SUMMARY:
I have 34 years of professional experience in the engineering design field.
During the past twenty four years I have provided engineering support to
the United States Army Natick Soldier System Center in the area of combat
support equipment, supplying technical data packages of expandable
shelters, tentage, airdrop items and personal equipment. These efforts have
included producing various assemblies, sub assemblies, layouts,
fabrication, details and bills of material meeting Department of Defense
requirements and compliance.
EXPERIENCE:
April 1990- August 2014, Leidos Inc. (formerly SAIC), Natick, MA
Senior Designer
Prepared and evaluated Technical Data Packages for the Natick Soldier
System Center. Performed the design of mechanical parts, sub-assemblies,
sheet metal parts as well as small mechanisms and fabrics for air drop
equipment used for military applications. Example design projects included,
Modular Lightweight Load Carrying Equipment pack system, military
parachutes, and expandable shelters. Collaborated with project officers,
military personnel, supervisors, and other engineers to problem solve and
develop a final product.
1998-2000 Expandable Shelter System Field Testing, Multiple Locations
Field Test Oversight
Verifying design changes on technical data packages for product improvement
at test sites in Michigan, and California.
1986-1990, Charles Stark Draper Labs, Cambridge, MA
Layout Designer
Performed the layout and detailing of small precision components to large
supporting structures. Utilized CAD/CAM designs for both commercial and
government applications requiring security clearance.
1984- 1986, Spire Corp, Bedford, MA
Layout Design
Developed drawings for tooling, jigs, fixtures and equipment for solar
energy apparatus.
1983-1984, S.P.E.C., Needham, MA
Designer
Created the layouts and details of in-line paper finishing equipment.
1981- 1983, Alpine American Corp, Natick, MA
Designer/Drafter
Designed layouts and details for size reduction equipment used in the food,
pharmaceutical and mining industries. Created designs of platforms for
plastic extrusion equipment.
1978-1981, Plainville Hydraulics, Plainville, MA
Draftsman
Developed tooling and fixture design for the production of hydraulic
actuators used in robotics. Maintained maintenance of production machinery.
1969-1972, United States Navy, Norfolk, VA
Seaman
