Oversaw the Codes & Standards program for The Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA)
International - a federation of 93 BOMA U.S. associations, BOMA Canada, and 13 BOMA international
affiliates.
Represented BOMA in the Codes & Standards development arena, focusing in the areas of Energy,
Fire, and Accessibility.
Developed and testified on code change proposals relating to all aspects of the commercial
building industry, ensuring that the codes were technically sound, practical, and cost-effective.
Managed (6) ANSI/BOMA Floor Measurement Standards. These standards are recognized
domestically and internationally as the industry accepted procedure for measuring square footage to be
utilized in leasing contracts.
Produced the first set of ‘Best Practices’ for the suite of BOMA standards. The Best Practices
allow users to more fully comprehend the standards and implement them in a more efficient
manner.

UNIVERSITY OF MIAMI, Miami, FL
Energy Manager – Facilities Administration
Managed the university’s energy conservation program for the Coral Gables campus, which is comprised of
127 buildings totaling 5.6M square feet with an annual utility bill of $8.5M.
Provided leadership and technical support in the analysis, development, and implementation of energy
programs including, energy efficiency and conservation projects and identification of cost saving
opportunities.
Revamped the overall retrofit strategy of the campus from a fragmented individual system
replacement process to a holistic building by building process with the objective of maximizing the
effectiveness of energy conserving measures by integrating them into the overall retrofit planning.
Provided technical assistance oversight for plan review of new construction and renovation projects to
ensure projects are meeting and/or surpassing the latest green building codes, while taking full advantage
of incentives offered on the federal and local level in conjunction with utilities and other third party
programs.

Engineering Manager – Building Technologies Program
Managed all research and development activities, related to improving energy efficiency in residential and
commercial building energy codes, for a $10 million budget including staff and consultants.
Conducted continual program reviews, supervision and performance evaluation of staff, determination
of day-to-day work assignment priorities, review of quality of work products, and identification of
program gaps with corresponding solutions.

Lead Technical Analysis Team to develop and execute strategic analysis and policy, whi le coordinating
with DOE legal counsel, interagency program staff, state and local environmental and energy office
officials, and industry stakeholders to build consensus and incorporate Federal energy conservation goals.
Served as a subject matter expert for DOE’s Building Technologies Program and b riefed high level
executive branch staff on program progress to ensure alignment in terms of policy and implementation
strategy, in addition to effectively communicating this information with A/E consultants, contractors,
equipment manufacturers and other stakeholders.
Chosen as a Peer Review Team member for the Energy Systems Integration Facility ($135 M project cost)
at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), focusing on the sustainability of the project and
achievement of LEED Platinum certification.

Congressional Fellow - American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS)
Conducted research and issue analysis with Energy and Environmental Legislative Staff, focusing on
Energy Efficiency, Alternative Energy, & Water issues.
Developed public policy initiatives by drafting legislation, political speeches, briefs and talking points.
Authored official correspondence to federal agencies pushing for action on relevant issues, such as to DOE
& IRS regarding Energy Star Water Heaters and energy efficiency tax credits for existing homes in 2009.
Collaborated with representatives from industry, research institutions, government agencie s, and non-profit
organizations in order to address constituent issues with an unbiased perspective.
Advised and prepared Member with voting recommendations and legislative solutions by monitoring and

Managed a 10 person design team which integrated the various aspects of a project ’s sustainability plan.

to reduce energy and other operations expenditures of buildings, equipment, and sites.
LEED consultant on 10+ projects, including five GSA-CIS buildings in South Florida.
Performed HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Protection engineering including the design, construction,
installation, maintenance, operation and inspections of building and utility systems such as HVAC,
electrical power distribution, plumbing, water distribution, and other related building systems.
Lead mechanical engineer for Office Depot Global Headquarters (650,000 sq. ft.).
