Duties & Responsibilities:

• To ensure that high standards of technical expertise, discipline and organization are

maintained.

• Work under the guidance of Chief MLSO.

• Assisting in the supervision of assigned section and supporting other MLSO’s.

• Actively participates in internal and external QC schemes.

Duties & Responsibilities:

HISTOLOGY

• Assist in training of new staff and intern students. Supervise and evaluate each staff’s

performance.

• In charge and co-manager of the Copath Live system, a histo/cyto computerized application

system.

• Follow established departmental PPG and ensure that it is practiced and followed by all staff

and/ or prepare new ones.

• Responsible in receiving, preparing, staining CAP survey materials before submitting it to

pathologists for interpretation.

• Gather all statistical works from weekly, monthly, quarterly and yearly workload.

• Competently assure section offers high quality of work thru regular QIP monitoring

example; TAT, Q.C., Issuance of Incident Reports, Intra and extra departmental consultation,

etc.

• Handle supply and equipment requisition, monitoring and inventory

• Prepare frozen section slides.

• Perform grossing such as curettage, appendix, gallbladder, biopsies and others.

• Perform tissue processing; correct embedding, cutting, staining and proper labeling.

• Do routine, special stain and also panel of IHC and immunoflourescence.

• Prepare reagents/ solutions to be used and evaluate its performance and adequacy.

• Evaluate and validate new machines/ equipments in the section.

• Responsible for parallel testing of control tissues and antibodies.

• Check and evaluate the quality of stained slides before submitting it to the pathologists.

• Select positive control tissue use for IHC, I.F., and special staining.

• Assist the doctors and pathologist in collecting kidney biopsies for adequacy and its proper

handling.
