Love is a strong word. I love building and sharing exceptional ideas and services that will
change the world, with intelligent teams of people. Let me explain how my professional
experience and passions bring the most to Boston Consulting Group.
When IBM Watson, a cognitive technology fostered in research for years premiered on
Jeopardy in 2012, they needed an incubated team within IBM to help commercialize the
technology. That was my team, a team of 2 dozen brilliant colleagues. We set out with a
focus to understand markets and industry vertices most prone to disruption. We then
partnered with those businesses and enabled IBM and the marketplace on cognitive
technology and its commercial application.
I was responsible for enabling IBM, our business partners, and over 200 c level executives
and companies across multiple industries. I identified and ushered in over a hundred
potential opportunities into our sales organization. I convinced businesses around the world
of our vision – thinking beyond big data, and instead, how the next era of cognitive
computing would soon change the way we interact as businesses and consumers.
IBM Watson named me Chief Evangelist for the Watson Group. This role allowed me to
directly affect the strategic direction of the product portfolio based on market feedback and
co creating go to market strategies with clients. I was able to help define our product
roadmap, assessing what our limitations and gaps in the portfolio were, and where partnering
with strategic technologies and business to help augment our services made sense. Based on
my interaction with clients in multiple industries, we were able to expand our portfolio with
additional services that the marketplace demanded. I worked with product management and
research teams to help tailor the vision and roadmap.
In addition, I was on the core strategy team that created a first ever business model at IBM,
ushering in our first venture capital backed partners. The Watson Ecosystem was created and
launched in 90 days in November 2013, where we made available our API (application
programming interface) to third party developers, a content and talent platform and expanded
the development of cognitive applications to start up organizations.
Building a business, commercializing a technological product, and engaging with clients to
identify and progress revenue opportunities have been at the forefront of my responsibilities.
Facilitating discussions on strategic implementations to transform the way clients work with
information by dramatically improving the quality, cost, and convenience of service delivery
has been my passion.
When it boils down to it, I want to solve problems, create meaningful solutions that are
exciting and disruptive with a great team. I am absolutely confident that my track record of
academic achievements combined with my professional experiences will make me a valuable
asset for BCG. Thank you for this opportunity.
