Research & Project Experience:
• Data Mining in Credit Risk Project Analyzed massive amount of client’s feature and loss data to find
the key features based on Principle Component Analysis and classification algorithms, and used
linear model to predict the loss severity in R.
• Portfolio Management Project: Tested performance of portfolios cross different structure methods and
criteria using simulation techniques, improved Sharpe Ratio of portfolios by eliminating bad
performance constituents before constructing portfolios.
• Risk Management Project: Performed large scale simulation calculating downside risk and value at risk
of portfolios of ETFs in MATLAB using parallel computing.
• UW Hospital Urology Preoperative Labs Project: Analyzed the historical scheduled surgery
cancellation data in UW Hospital, developed and implemented forecasting models to predict future
scheduled surgery cancellation rate by using SAS and logistic regression.
• Machine learning Project: Applied support vector machines in classifying disputed articles in
MATLAB and analyzed numerical algorithm solving linear equations and optimization problems.
• Department of Natural Resources (DNR) of Wisconsin Project: Implemented Integer programming
techniques in solving facility location and human resource allocation problem in GAMS.
• Queuing problem Project: Using simulation modeling and analysis techniques to reduce the patient
waiting time in the hospital and maximize patient’s satisfaction by Arena.
• Toyota' Engine Block Production Line Project: Modeled and evaluated line performance, designed lean
buffers, identified bottleneck, provided continuous improvement recommendations for improve
throughput by 5% and reduce work-in-process by 50%.
