* Responsible for maintaining the health of a colony of 56 to 70 dogs. Directed a staff of animal health care
technicians to execute tasks in the areas of nutrition, hygiene, disease monitoring, and medical treatment,
and diabetic control. Responsible for the pre-operative, operative, and post operative care of surgically treated
animals. Performed jugular cut down surgery to implant sensors into jugular vein to record diabetic data. Also
implanted surgically peritoneal sensors and insulin pumps. Ensured that all surgical and care documentation
was accurate and complete. Assumed responsibility for all aspects of animal care, emergency or otherwise,
if facility manager or staff veterinarian was away from facility. Responsibilities focus on surgical support,
medical care, and diagnostics. Essential duties and responsibilities included, but were not limited to; monitoring
animal vital signs daily, or more often, if needed, treatment and oral medications, prepare surgical suite
and surgery packs. Take pre and post op. surgical x-rays, diagnostic hematology and blood chemistry,
injections, venipunctures, and catheter placement. Apply bandages and dress wounds. Provide assistance
with endoscopy and laparoscopy. Inventory and order drugs, supplies, and dog foods. Manage controlled
drugs and controlled substance drug log books. Performed euthanasia and necropsies. Provided leadership
and support in the daily maintenance and studies performed on the colony of dogs.

exotics, phlebotomy, as well as basic animal care. Experienced in running anesthesia with or without a

in surgery and recovery. Provided assistance to horses that were in the clinic or the hospital. Assisted in
taking and developing x-rays. Changed leg bandages daily, and treated all hospitalized horses, including
administering medications, injections, and fluid therapy. Assisted veterinarians in the field when needed for
castrations, perianal lacerations, complications with mare and foal deliveries, and other procedures that might
need assistance. I continually improved the level of care as more responsibility was given to me. This was my
first position as a Registered Veterinary Technician after I graduated.
