SELECTED CAREER ACHIEVEMENTS
• Planned, directed, and organized all phases of product distribution to ensure adequate, timely, and accurate delivery of
products to retail stores and customers for one of the leading supplier of heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC)
products for residential and commercial use. Managed logistics, out/inbound transportation strategies and processes,
execution, and system optimization regarding freight forwarding, Hazardous Material (HazMat) transportation, procurement of
freight services, and Third Party Logistics (3PL) for FTL and LTL services. Developed annual operations and capital expense
budgets for each area of responsibility and ensured teams to adhere to set budgets. Developed daily/weekly/monthly management
reports that summarize operations, key performance indicators (KPI’s), work measurements, and other information related to
transportation performance. Managed acquisition and disposal of all assets (Trucks, Trailers, and Forklifts etc.). RESULTS:
Optimized outbound route and increased load fill efficiency; 71% [Based on 25% outbound loads]. Reduced transportation costs
by 9% by implementing a corporate contract and renegotiating fuel surcharges. Increased on-time shipping performance by 97+
% for distribution, up from 62%. Reduced excess and obsolete inventory by $2+ million.
• Directed the daily activities for all phases of transportation and warehouse operations for the complete range of
distribution and logistics for the “World Leader” in 3PL services. Supporting direct to consumer, retail store replenishment, and
network import distribution for northern, central & southern Texas regions. Establish performance metrics to monitor current
state and improve key processes to include transportation management, order fulfillment and warehousing, cross-dock services,
home delivery, and reverse logistics solutions. Review and analyzed facilities performance with a balanced approach, focused on
increasing revenues and cutting operational cost. Worked in close collaboration with Third Party Logistics
providers/carriers/haulers/packers to facilitate efficient logistics management. RESULTS: Reduced the total logistics cost as a
percentage of sales from 17.5% to 2% within 4 month. Improved cube utilization of all outbound loads from 71% average to 90%
what resulted in a $24K revenue spike each month.
• Managed the day-to-day warehouse operations for a 1.5 million square foot highly automated, state of the art distribution
center, 150 associate two-shift operations that distributes 2.6 million pieces weekly; servicing 70 Target retail stores in the
Southwest and Central Region of Texas. RESULTS: Led distribution center to high performance in key operational metrics:
from 23th to be ranked 13th out of 26 DCs in overall performance at 101% to common expectations; from 18th to be ranked 10th
in cost per carton; 8th in daily level of service; and achieved 102% to budget for cartons per hours. As project champion,
developed and implemented a program of equipment maintenance for shipping wing roller refurbishment, which saved over
$200K in material costs.
• Directed and managed the transportation network for one of the largest independently owned food-retailing companies in
the country, which includes business-to-business and business-to-consumer deliveries. Managed a fleet of 280+ tractors.
Formulated and created a $ 15M operating budget. Designed and planned retail store order delivery schedules (ODS). Contacted
3PL carrier reviews of quality and service, analyzed costs, negotiated rates and contracts. Used data-driven methodology to
continually improve processes and services. Coordinated fleet utilization through enhanced backhaul and returns management.
RESULTS: Eliminated 430K empty miles by adding backhauls from suppliers, which saved $ 545K annually. Catapulted on-
time delivery index from 82.3% average to 98.5% average within 3 month.
