Objective
A telecommute position involving work with database analysis and
code logic; one that challenges me to come up with new
ideas and to continue to learn new ways of performing my
work. Also, working for a company that is open to new
ideas and unafraid of implementing change.
Experience
6/2006 -Present Synchronet Marine Inc
Telecommute
DBA / Software Engineer / SQL Developer
Created a set of custom SQL procedures and functions
that perform matching of millions of lanes, in real
time, to provide customers with instant quotes on
transportation moves. Process undergoing review for
software patent.
Work directly with users to find best possible solutions
Invented a new process, using views, temp tables and
stored procedures that replaced the main business
algorithm. This reduced the run time from 3 hours,
running once daily, to real time data available 24/7 -
increasing productivity, sales and reducing strain on
the database and network - company executives have
expressed interest in obtaining a software patent on
this process.
Created secondary database that syncs with the primary
database and has events that process the data to find
costs for all possible truck/rail combination moves in
the United States providing the sales force the best
advantage in the industry at moving customer equipment
at the best price for them and lowest cost for us.
Broke down server run algorithms (C code) into stored
procedures, database functions and updated code to find
the best possible combination based on speed, accuracy
and resources
Added functions that now provide real time statistics on
container movements by region and company, replacing a
time and resource intensive algorithm
Added lookup tables in place of excessive null columns,
reducing database size, index sizes and increasing
efficiency
Engineered multiple complex data mining solutions
Added daily events that call stored procedures to update
daily statistics on container storage, per diem and free
days left
Assisted in the creation of an event, running twice
daily, that automatically backs up the database into a
zip file on a specified folder on a network server
Created stored procedures that use dynamically built SQL
statements
Take customer requirements and translate them into
functional requirements, plan, code and test
Reconfigured database for a higher level of referential
integrity and normalized to a good working level
Triggers, stored procedures and function written in
Transact SQL using Sybase Database defined functions
Tried to write SQL in accordance to ANSI SQL whenever it
would not affect performance, in case of changing
database to a different vendor
Troubleshoot bugs and implement solutions
Analyze current procedures and recommend new ways to
perform business logic functionality
Introduce new features and functionality where a need is
found.
Code in C compile using command line batch files and
debug in Visual Studio
