WORK EXPERIENCE
Parkell, Inc. Deer Park, NY
Process Engineer October 2012 – August 2013
• Tested silicone & acrylic products using various instrumentation including the viscometer, rheometer, TGA and Instron.
• Developed written work-instructions for testing production batches, which are currently being used by lab technicians.
• Investigated contaminated batches and found various causes, such as defective raw materials.
• Optimized process for an in-demand product, which allowed for an increase in production volume.
• Worked in cross-functional teams and acquired hands-on manufacturing experience.
RESEARCH EXPERIENCE & PROJECTS
Columbia University, Chemical Engineering Department New York, NY
Project Title: “Chemical Product Analysis for Caustic Drain Cleaners” Spring 2013
• Completed a detailed analysis of caustic liquid drain cleaners, including their physical property constraints, life cycle
considerations and standards & regulations.
Project Title: “Aerosols’ Effect on Ocean Acidification” Fall 2013
• Proposed an experimental method to study two types of atmospheric aerosols, sulfur dioxide and nitrogen dioxide, and
determined the significance of their effects on ocean acidification.
The University of Chicago, Physics Department Chicago, IL
Project Title: “Characterizing Niobium Superconducting Thin Films” Summer 2011
• Created high quality thin films of niobium and titanium nitride for their use in superconducting media such as circuits.
• Proved electron beam deposition to be a viable method for creating high quality thin films, and developed protocols during
the process, which will be used as the core of the labs fabrication process moving forward.
The City College of New York, Senior Design Project New York, NY
Project Title: “Factory Scale Production of Atorvastatin Calcium” Spring 2012
• Worked in a team to create a factory scale model for developing atorvastatin calcium, and contributed to task specifications,
which included the chemical synthesis, process flow sheets, cost analysis, and examination of various patents.
