ACADEMIC PROJECTS:

Validation of Wearable Sensors for Patient Care: Turning Data into Actionable Information

Guidance: Dr Leland Hartwell, Nobel Awardee in Physiology. February 2014-Present, Team Size: 4

• This project is basically developed to improve healthcare outcomes at reduced costs.

• I have been given an important role of identifying unknown physiological data that predict disease progression in patients and

thus helps in administering appropriate medical interventions.

• I have also been actively involved in development of the wearable sensors to measure behavioral parameters such as heart rate,

blood pressure, temperature and to report these continuous quantitative data in real time.

Sophisticated Pulse Sensor for Non-Invasive Health Monitoring System-A Life Saving Device,

Patent Pending. April 2012-February 2013, Team size: 2.

• Designed a user-friendly, integrated healthcare device consisting of heart-rate sensor, Bluetooth module and the Atmega 328

micro-controller, which can be paired up wirelessly via Bluetooth to an android smart phone for quick and reliable

communication.

• This watch-shaped tangible device is used as a preventive and precautionary measure for heart patients and is programmed

according to individual work scenarios and specific health conditions.

• Strictly adhered to standards of Human Factor Engineering (HFE) during design and implementation of this device.

• Developed an intelligent Android Program to enable an automatic link between patient’s smart phone and the hospital terminal.

• First of its kind in India, with the unique feature of efficient monitoring and initialization of an automatic response, to contact

the medical fraternity during emergency.

High Voltage Proximity Detector

Patent Pending, December 2012-April 2013, Team size: 4

• Designed a low cost, high precision safety device for electric lineman workers, which is the first of its kind in India.

• It is uniquely designed to fit into safety helmets and is intelligently developed to accurately detect the presence of high voltage

lines from distance range as high as 10 meter.

• This miniaturized device consists of transistor, zener diodes and six inverter circuits which is manufactured using

complementary MOS (CMOS) to achieve wide power supply operating range, low power consumption, high noise immunity,

and symmetric controlled rise and fall times.

• The GSM module sets up effective communication with the main control unit and lineman workers which would help in

maintenance and installation works of substation and power plants.

PAPER PRESENTATION

• Sophisticated Pulse sensor for Non Invasive Health Monitoring Systems.

Transactions on Electrical and Electronics Engineering (ITSI-TEEE), ISSN PRINT: 2320 – 8945, Volume-1, Issue -6, 2013.

• High Voltage Proximity Detector.

Utsaha 2012, BMS Institute Of Technology, Volume-4, Issue-3, 2013

ACHIEVEMENTS:

• My venture ‘PRANAANJ’ has won the seed grant, for to be developed as a Medical Device LLC, and has been selected to be

part of prestigious “Great Little Companies (GLC) 2014”.

• The Research project, ‘A Life Saving Device’ developed under my leadership was selected to represent prestigious V.T.U.

University for Global Institute of Engineers and Technology (IET) award and Nasi-Scopus Young Scientist 2012 award.

• My technical article on 'Sophisticated Pulse Sensor for Non Invasive Health Monitoring System' was awarded as the “Best

Research Paper” in 1st International Conference on Recent Trends in Engineering and Technology, 2013, Bangalore.
