JOHN C. LAUDERDALE III
PROPOSAL MANAGER
Mr. Lauderdale’s book is “Roadmap to BD Success – The Business Development Journey” (May
2013). He has a DoD Top Secret clearance.
Mr. Lauderdale brings over twenty years of proposal and project management experience as well
as several years of serving in various managerial positions. He has expertly provided proposal
leadership for several telecommunications companies, including Demmer Corporation, BAE
Systems, SAIC, Qwest, Multimax, Northrop Grumman, By Light, AT&T, Sprint, Lucent, Bell
Atlantic, and others, and he has managed telecom projects for Pacific Bell, e.spire, Citizens
Telecom, and Harris Telecom. During his career, he has led or helped prepare proposals for
contracts valued at $15 billion with wins in excess of $10 billion. His skills in capture planning,
proposal development, and competitive pricing development are valuable assets to our team.
For the past twenty years plus, Mr. Lauderdale has served as a consultant in proposal
management, proposal consulting, and project management for several large Federal contractors.
His work has included: project management in information technology solutions for Cambridge
Technology Partners, proposal management for Nortel Federal Systems on subcontract input to
EDS for a major DoD telecom procurement, and proposal development for GTE on a major
proposal to the USAF involving integration of the solutions of a hardware vendor (Alcatel) and a
technical services provider (Network Construction Services) into a single solution. Mr.
Lauderdale also managed a project for NASDAQ involving software implementation of sales
force automation and served as project manager for PacBell San Francisco on various projects
relating to their responsibilities to provide parity to competing dial tone providers.
Prior to becoming an independent consultant, Mr. Lauderdale served in several corporate senior
management positions. As Director, Strategic Planning & Proposal Operations for Grumman
Data Systems, he was responsible for the creation of management plans (strategic, tactical, and
five-year financial) and evaluation and creation of all must-win proposals. He served as
Manager, Pricing and Competition Analysis for Battelle, where he provided training in proposal
development, pre-RFP marketing, and cost preparation. He was also responsible for analyzing
the competitors' pricing strategies, business development plans, and methods. For General
Dynamics, Mr. Lauderdale carried managerial responsibility for all proposals regarding the B-1B
aircraft at their Electronics Division and assisted in proposal management for most major
proposals for the Electronics Division. While at General Dynamics, he also functioned as the
Proposal Leader for a major ($300 million) subcontract bid, creating cogent proposals for F-16
aircraft and support services. He worked with the Estimating, Contracts, Marketing, Finance,
Procurement, and Logistics Departments to coordinate proposal efforts for both domestic (USAF,
USN) and foreign (Pakistan, Turkey, Venezuela, Greece, Singapore) customers
Mr. Lauderdale holds a M.B.A. in Operations Research from American University and a
B.S in Mathematics from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. He has also completed
graduate course work in finance and international business at George Washington University and
the University of Texas.
