THESIS RESEARCH: Biodegradable Plastics – Analysis of PHA (Polyhydroxyalkanoates) Granules and use of cheaper

carbon sources, by Bacillus species. Jul 2011-Jan 2012

Collected soil samples from around the college campus, isolated and analyzed strains for the production of PHA using

UV-Vis Spectrophotometer.

The Bacillus strains were grown by Cell Culture techniques; using waste vegetable fried oil, agricultural waste and

waste potato as carbon sources. PHA was produced, and compared to the control PHA produced by Glucose.
