Work Experience
Tandem Diabetes Care
San Diego, California
Software Tester Intern- Research and Development
November 2013-January 2014
. Performed quality testing with Tandem Diabetes Care insulin pumps
and ensure performance and efficiency of the products meet FDA
and company required standards
. Reported discovered malfunctions and errors and attended daily
scrum meetings to support software developers to identify
solutions
UCSD Psychiatry
La Jolla, California
Student Assistant
November 2012-August 2013
. Created database for the data and tracking of clinical research
patients following the HIPAA regulations that would be used in
generating key data for manuscript writing
. Used SPSS, Microsoft Excel, and psychiatric scoring measure
programs to generate statistical report and trained new employees
on these processes
. Wrote simple protocols on the exportation of data from several
psychiatric scoring measure programs and updated versions of all
software on computers used by students and professors
Related Experience/Coursework
BEST Workshop at Miramar College
Miramar, California
Attendee
June 2013
. Conducted PCR experiment to amplify the locus in the tPA gene on
chromosome 8 to determine presence of an Alu element using
thermal cycler and gel electrophoresis with positive controls
. Used ELISA's to determine the antibody titer between different
dilutions of rabbit and bovine serum.
Cardiac Mechanics Research Group at UCSD
La Jolla, California
Undergraduate Researcher (Volunteer)
June 2011- March 2012
Collaborated with post-doctoral fellow to investigate the remodeling
of mouse cardiac myocyte sarcomere length after biaxial strain on a
PDMS surface. At the end presented a report based on recorded notes and
data kept in lab journal.
. Conducted in-depth experiments that directly showed when
sarcomeres were subject to eccentric hypertrophy-causing
conditions, cells were elongated and sarcomeres were added in
series to each other shown by immunofluorescence staining
. Thawed, plated, cultured, and isolated mouse cells using aseptic
technique and maintained laboratory stocking of media and pipettes
. Designed experiment that would create a less stiff
gelatin/agarose/PDMS hybrid membrane in which cells would be
subjected to the same conditions of eccentric hypertrophy-causing
conditions to compare results
Organic Chemistry Laboratory at UCSD
La Jolla, California
Student
Sept 2012- Dec 2012
. Used fractional and simple distillation to separate a two
component hydrocarbon into cylcohexane and n-octane and
confirmation by gas chromatography
. Performed experiments using Thin Layer Chromatography and Column
chromatography to identify unknown mixtures into their individual
components and retardation factors
