Projects
Design of MTBE Production Plant. Process Design II, spring 2014.
• Designed an Aspen Plus simulation for a MTBE production facility with a 50,000 ton a year capacity.
• Performed a cash flow and Monte Carlo analysis to determine profitability of plant design.
• Collaborated with two other students to investigate a total of three designs for the plant. Out of the three
designs considered, mine was the recommended design.
• Wrote a fifteen page technical report covering the design process, and delivered a presentation on the
overall design.
Tanks in Series. Process Control Lab, spring 2014.
• Examined a set of tanks in series in order to compare predictive models to experimental results.
• Sized and characterized valves used in the system.
• Developed transfer functions to describe relationship between valve positions and liquid height in the
different tanks.
Continuous Stirred Tank Reactor Rating. Unit Operations Lab, fall 2013.
• Developed a process flow diagram and operating procedure for experimental operations.
• Lead team in lab and provided training to other students on CSTR operation.
• Modeled the CSTR using both theoretical and statistical models (DOE) to establish performance.
• Wrote a thirty page technical report detailing experimental results, model predictions, and statistical
analysis performed.
Work Experience
Neighborhood Maintenance Inc., Miami, Florida.
Maintenance Manager, 7/2009 to 03/2011.
• Supervised a variety of personnel actions to ensure facility was maintained in a clean and orderly
manner.
• Managed inventory and placed orders for new supplies and equipment as needed.
Miami Dade College, Homestead, Florida.
Undergraduate Research Assistant, 8/2010 to 12/2010.
• Synthesized and purified resveratrol derivatives required for research.
• Analyzed and interpreted NMR spectroscopy data.
• Delivered presentations on research to peers.
