ACADEMIC PROJECTS:

IMPLEMENTATION OF TYPE 1 PROCESSOR IN LOGICAL LINK CONTROL LAYER (IEEE

802.2)

This project was accomplished as mini-project fulfilment in second semester of MTech.

The objective of the project is to understand and design Type 1 protocol of logical link control (LLC)

layer that is unacknowledged connectionless LLC layer protocol accor ding to the standard IEEE802.2

specifications with an AMBA AXI protocol interface to the CPU. The logic al layer is the upper part of

the Data Link layer for the 802.x networks and provides a common interface between the Network

Layer and the MAC sub layer of the data link layer.

INTERNET OF THINGS USING RASPBERRY PI

This project was accomplished as mini-project fulfilment in first semester of MTech.

The objective of this project was to realize the application development for internet of things using

WebIOPI frame work in Raspberry Pi hardware. We implemented a Bot which houses raspberry pi

and other required hardware, which is connected to the LAN through wifi USB adapter. We controlled

and monitored the Bot from the other system connected to the same LAN n etwork by accessing the

IP address of the application which is running as server developed in raspberry pi.

HIGH POWER FLOAT BATTERY CHARGER SUITABLE FOR STATION BATTERY’S

This project was accomplished as Academic project in final year of engineering.

The system is configured around a 32bit microcontroller system which has a inbuilt cortex core to do

high speed arithmetic. This board interfaces to a key board and colour display for setting charge

parameters and voltage for float. The over voltage protectio n is controlled by Microcontroller and

over current protection is done by Protection electronics. The board interfaces in the power side to a

IGBT driven PWM buck converter working on ac line converted to a DC bus and PWM regulation for

48v/24v battery operation under float. The IGBT based PWM regulator ensures operation at all

current and automatic high speed current limiting and thus better regulation and performance.

WORK EXPERIENCE: PROJECTS WORKED AS DESIGN ENGINEER

DESIGN OF INVERTER CONTROL CARD FOR INDUCTION MELTING FURNACES

These control cards are used in induction melting/ heating furnaces. The control system is built with

SOM-A2F500 smartfusion board which has FPGA and ARM cortex M3 microcontroller. The system

takes all the 15 feedbacks into account and provides the gate firing signals for the thyristors.

Core Responsibilities:

Testing, debugging the control card and electronic circuits and finalising the design.

Writing the new supporting Verilog modules & C program for ARM cortex M3 microco ntroller for

the existing inverter code to the SOM-A2F500 smartfusion Board.

Design of GUI in Visual studio 2010 and communicating to the SOM through Serial port.

SOFT DECISION BIT SYNCHRONIZER

Bit Synchronizer is very important system in Telemetry. Afte r receiving the Data from the antenna,

the data which is of Bi-phase-L in nature and operating at certain specified frequency will be affected

by noise in free space propagation. The Bit Synchronizer takes the noisy signals as input and

reproduces the cleaned Data in NRZ/ BIPHASE-L form with the Clock in SYNC. The Clock and Data in

SYNC is then fed to other systems like Decommutator for the frame sync pattern recognition and

other processing.

Core Responsibilities:

Developed the GUI software application using Visual basic and serial communication interface

between application and A2F500 SOM board.

Developed and implemented suitable algorithms in VHDL.

Interfacing the A2F200 smart fusion board with other analog circuits.

AUTOMATION OF SAPPHIRE CRYSTAL GROWING PROCESS

Sapphire crystal is used for Led manufacturing and other applications. The crystal grower had to be

driven down at .x mm/min and the feeder powder had to be tapped at certain speed to feed powder

to the burner at 2050 Celsius to form the crystal.

Core Responsibilities:

Embedded Application Programming in C using Keil or silicon labs IDE and interfacing with

C8051F020 microcontroller.

Stepper motor interfacing and control using program and displaying necessary data.

DESGIN OF THREE PHASE FOUR TAP CHANGE OVER CONTROL BOARD FOR A ENERGY

SAVING APPLICATION

This system selects the required tap based on the input voltage read on each phase. The system is

built with C8051F020 microcontroller with Auto and Manual selection for Taps with password

protection and Individual timer for each phase for monitoring change over delay.

Core Responsibilities:

Embedded Application Programming in C using Keil or silicon labs IDE and interfacing with

C8051F020 microcontroller.

Design of control board and testing.

DESIGN OF AC REGULATOR USING IGBT

The AC regulator regulates the voltage at the Set point given set by user. If the incoming voltage in

less than the set voltage it automatically boosts the voltage to the set voltage. These AC regulators

are used for energy saving applications.

Core Responsibilities:

Programming in VHDL and C for the A2F200 smart fusion EVAL board.

Design of the analog control boards and Gate driving circuits for IGBT.

OTHER PROJECTS:

NFC BASED ACCESS CONTROL SYSTEM

The objective of the project is to understand the NFC concept and how to read or write information

to and from the card. Adafruit PN532 RFID/NFC Breakout Shield was interfaced to the aurdino uno

which helped to read/write the information in the card . The information in the card was verified with

the stored information in the system. If the information is matching then the solenoid is activated.

The same project was extended to write and read to all locations in the NFC tag.

SOLAR PANEL CLEANER

This is a mechatronics project in which the solar panel housed a LDR sensor which detected the

amount of dust deposited on the solar panel and a roller to clean the solar panel. The roller was

operated with the help of three dc motors. The MSP430G2253 microcontroller was used to sense the

amount of dust deposited on the panel and control the operation of the DC motors.
