Dear Sir/Madam,

I am writing to express my interest in applying as an Epidemiologist. I believe that the organization s objective is congruent with my own professional commitment

and aspirations.

It will allow me to continue developing as a professional in Health Surveillance as well as continue implementing knowledge and tools in Field Epidemiology, as

well as improve and ameliorate my vision of health interventions in the social approach and enrich my performance in the field of Public Health.

I graduated as a Physician at the Faculty of Medicine of the National University of Buenos Aires (Universidad de Buenos Aires). After graduation, I joined the

Residency Program in Internal Medicine, and subsequently elected as Chief Resident in Internal Medicine, developing and teaching professional tasks in the José

María Ramos Mejía Hospital and Health Centers in the City of Buenos Aires. During that period, my main field of interest was engaged in the study of the processes

of health and disease linked to the adult population, and the conditions affecting them, as well as a deep interest in clinical epidemiology and infectious diseases

processes in particular.

After my training in the health care area, I chose to deepen my knowledge in Public Health and Epidemiology and mainly in Applied Statistics, through refresher

courses taught by CAYCIT - CONICET during 2010 and 2011, and Field Epidemiology as a Resident Program taught by the Ministry of Health in 2012.

I am currently a professional in the Health Surveillance Area since January 2013, as part of the Epidemiology Department of the Ministry of Health in Argentina,

where I strengthened my professional experience in surveillance and control of infectious diseases and other notifiable events as well as the overall management

and administration of integrated National Surveillance System.

My work also involves training through workshops organized throughout the country to strengthen integrated monitoring in conjunction with members of the various

Programs and National Offices (such as National Chagas Control Program, National Zoonotic Diseases Program, National Vaccine-Preventable Diseases

Program, National AIDS and STD Program, Maternity and Children National Office, National Laboratory Referrals - ANLIS Malbrán).

Other key management activities within the system that require an integrated epidemiological vision are based on the evaluation of actors at the local level (health

centers, hospitals, laboratories) through monitoring and consultation; besides the management of interdisciplinary working groups that require the presence of

clinical, and epidemiological components to agree on updating regulations surveillance and control of disease. During our daily work, the knowledge of an

epidemiological framework and the adequate management of field epidemiology become essential to the detailed study in outbreak situations and the need for

optimization and intensification of surveillance following the suspicion of an event for timely action in health policy.

In this regard, I have also recently involved in the management of epidemiological surveillance through all sentinel units and particularly, SARI sentinel units

( severe acute respiratory infections ), by monitoring and analyzing their strengths and weaknesses, also in taking forward its management with the objective of

improving and developing a permanent staff training in this field.

In addition to the above, I consider myself an appropriate candidate as an Epidemiologist at MSF as my professional experience and knowledge could bring

enrichment analysis and a proper public health vision.

Following this line of work I am particularly interested in Tropical infectious diseases, epidemiology and the study of surveillance strategies of these and other

related events, as well as the different types of evaluating systems for timely monitoring, analysis Health determinants analysis, and socio-cultural epidemiology

related to the processes of health. And I am well- prepared in terms of dissemination of information generated nationwide through the Integrated Surveillance

Weekly Bulletin Reports, Alerts and Epidemiological Recommendations for the Health Professionals.

I think the approach that characterizes this candidature from an integrated and cross – needed insight into public health is the enabling environment for me to

continue making creative contributions and proposal management, as well as to implement strategies to generate evidence in order to help within the development

of health policies anD a public health equity.

I therefore enclosed my Curriculum vitae, and I am thankful for your future consideration.

Sincerely yours,

Paula Verónica Couto.
