Project # 1: Illinois Interactive Report Card Project

Role: Senior Data Analyst

Illinois Interactive Report Card (IIRC) is a project funded by Illinois

State Board of Education. IIRC is a platform to securely host state-wide

student results and reports, available to the school and district

administrators. It hosts the interactive school report cards. Also, manages

a secure portal for educators to make their plans electronically and have

them reviewed and authorized by the State Board. This is a collaborative

project with the Illinois State Board of Education to design a Parent

friendly School Report Card on a 2-page dynamic PDF. Additionally, expand

and remodel the existing IIRC (iirc.niu.edu) site to Illinois Report Card

Site (Illinoisreportcard.com). Worked with and managed Large Dataset with

nearly 11000 data points per year and a historical timeline of 15 years.

Responsibilities:

. Conduct detailed data usage and data meaning analysis to support

governance recommendations.

. Measure and track data quality. Conduct analysis of adherence

of data to business rules and compliance with laws and regulations

(e.g. FERPA requirements, industry standards.).

Project # 2: Illinois Shared Learning Environment

The Project is a state initiative to provide longitudinal data system on a

shared platform for all the schools and districts of Illinois State. The

project focuses on centrally managing the schools needs and enabling

educators to manage their student information systems real-time. The

project is funded by Race-To-The-Top Dollars. The Project is a pilot

development for the inBloom (National Project by Gates Foundation)

Responsibilities

. Created and maintained a project schedule using SharePoint showing all

target dates for deliverables.

. Physical data modeling (table definitions, primary/secondary key

identification, identification of indexes, etc.)

. Automated creation of reports and extracts from database for delivery

to clients.

Senior DB Analyst/Manager

The Project was to build a data warehouse to store the 30 TB of 10 years'

worth data of the 1.6 million Students' results across the state. The

project required working with individual school districts and implementing

their custom requirements on a secure portal. The site was to host at least

15 assessments including State and Shelf assessments. The design had to

closely match the SIF standards for alignment with State Databases. Handle

various formats of flat files from various vendors like Pearson and ACT.

Responsibilities:

. Architected Databases for Data Warehouse project, which was

implemented using the star schema approach on a SQL Server 2008

platform.

. Designed daily, weekly and monthly packages to maintain the warehouse

and cubes. Implemented these packages using SSIS

. Responsible for data modeling, schema-analysis and leading the DB team

managed centrally at the data center hosted offsite. The systems are

required to be in sync at all times with real-time feeds from the clients'

data stores. The Student Information and School Information of real-time

lunch counts, attendance and bus schedules is read from the cloud and

presented on a web interface.

Responsibilities:
