It provides the ability to connect content and productivity tools in research, litigation, client development
and practice management so that LexisNexis can deliver total solutions that help their customers achieve
better outcomes across the business and practice of law.
First release of New Lexis was Lexis Advance for Solos, a product specifically developed for solo
practitioners and partnerships of two attorneys. Recent release of New Lexis is called as Lexis Advance;
the platform is targeted for any legal professional in a law firm, corporation or public institution who is
regularly engaged in conducting legal research.
Lexis Advance is a new online research service that will transform the way LexisNexis customers conduct
their legal research. It is a new customer driven, legal research solution that combines the content
advantages of the LexisNexis services with the open web. It brings together new search technology and
innovative data analytics tools. It is a more efficient, more intuitive way to search for the results they
need. Lexis Advance delivers more comprehensive and relevant results so LexisNexis customers will

• Workfolder is an environment for the users where they can save, edit and retrieve files associated
with their userID.
• It is a service which enables the users to mark annotations onto documents stored in the
workfolder and also to retrieve the marked annotations.
• The saved documents can be formatted along with the marked annotations in different formats,
suitable for display or download.
• The workfolders and saved documents can be shared with other users in the same group and users
can edit, save or print shared documents.

1. Involved in Requirement analysis and is responsible for writing up of design documents for the
Content Search and Retrieval components of Lexis Nexis.
2. Responsible for application integration. This includes defining the timeline for integration,
selecting the baselines, specifying resources and services to be integrated, defining the interfaces
and monitoring the integration and smoke testing the integrated services.
a. In this role he works with Application Team to determine handshake mechanism across
different services.
b. Understanding of the expected inputs each service requires and the expected output
options and setting up the right definitions for efficient service oriented architecture.
c. Communicating and executing the enhancements across services to deploy to
environments in the same time avoiding mismatches to keep the system up and running
for development and testing purposes.
d. Setting up the right baseline of resources to be used to have valid cohesion of handshake.
e. Smoke test the services once every service has been deployed with base lined resources
and allow the test group to continue with validation.
3. Implement Change in Development Region, includes Application changes, changes to
Application Server.
a. Perform Configuration Changes in Application Server and document the same to be used
in the next Project Life Cycle.

New Initiatives.
a. Architecture Changes requires complete knowledge of New Lexis Search Application and
all the application services that New Lexis provides to the customer.

XSDLT), XQuery, Xpath, HTML,WSDL,WADL, Rest Web Services, Mark Logic,

a. Prepare documentation/ steps of what needs to be done when deploying new application

Deployment, New Mark Logic Server setup, Index creation, user role definition.
6. He is responsible for setting up new environments for various groups within New Lexis to
perform individual tasks independent of each other to deliver their own enhancements to the
product.
a. In this role he will be setting up the chasm variables that define initial resources for all
services.
b. Decides on extent of data required to be loaded to perform desired teams task in the new
environment.
c. Responsible for creating necessary service request for setting up new ID’s, permissions,
configurations and resources for the established services in the new environment.

a. Responsible for requesting for desired number of forests and evaluator nodes within
Mark Logic database.
b. Assigning appropriate roles for operational and read only users.
c. Creating necessary indexes and setting up configurations based on Mark Logic
recommendation for optimum performance.
d. Deploying metadata and XQuery files to appropriate nodes.
e. Initiating indexing and corbing to refresh the data with new metadata or new set of data.
5. Responsible for Data Integration. This includes defining the opportunities for integration,
selecting the tools, specifying the shared data & code resources, defining the interfaces and
control-flows, and monitoring the success of data integration based on timeline.
a. In this role Ravi Ramakrishnan works with various Data Owners responsible for various
content types such as Case Law, News, Dockets, Expert witness analysis, Statutes and
Legislation etc.
b. Understanding the information and metadata required to extract desired data from raw
data.
c. Fabricating the raw data to load it to Mark Logic database with desired metadata
information which helps the application to present the documents to customer in feasible
model.
d. Modifying the fabricated data with inbuilt services loadspec to include additional
information for operational purposes.
e. Coordinating with various data owners on data loading, content Application Integration
testing.

8. Identify Performance/ Response Time for every search request on each content type using in built
Mark Logic profiler. Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks such as expensive queries and
long running queries.
9. Perform Architectural reviews for all services and releases; serve as a key member to all teams in
evaluating and proposing technical alternatives and resolving key issues.
10. Co-ordinate with the Users, Testers and Business Analysts during meetings and live events.
11. Work with New Lexis Search Users/ Customers during Testing Cycles and provide Testing
Support during every Project Verification Life Cycle.
12. Continually research the information technology marketplace for new and innovative
technologies and application development practices.
13. Proactively propose these new technologies as solutions to business problems.
