ODW Logistics, Inc. 2011

Purpose: To improve operational efficiencies of its pack out line

Method: Pack station queuing simulation. Installed an acceleration model into the warehouse management

system

Result: Total time savings were 1042 hours / year and total cost savings were $10,490 / year

Build-A-Bear Workshop, Inc. 2011

Purpose: To redesign the layout of 40,000 square feet mezzanine of "Build A Bear" Distribution Center in order

to release the congestion and improve order fulfillment during peak season.

Method: Performed an order processing simulation and found out the space needed for placing the increasing

totes. Moved some irrelevant business functions out of the mezzanine and relocated them to first floor of the

distribution center.

Result: Reduced the waiting queue from 580 orders / hour to 400 orders / hour.

Mac Tools Co. 2011

Purpose: To attract more distributors.

Method: Analyzed current market and recruiting strategy. Expanded the current pool. Changed target

distributors and changed incentive structure. Switched from distributor model to a franchise model

Result: An increase in distributors of 12%
