Objective:
I am a mechanical engineer with a bachelor’s degree from Purdue University currently employed with General Motors. I am looking for a direct hire position
in design engineering or automation engineering where I can put my education and experience to use. I am seeking a new challenge where I can apply my
talents while continuing to learn new skills and develop professionally.
Career Specific Qualifications:
• Passion for designing innovative solutions to technical problems. • Trained for Six Sigma Green Belt • Passed EIT / FE exam.
• Intent to acquire PE certification within one year. • Experience working in collaborative, cross functional teams. • Self-motivated.
• Experience with 2D / 3D CAD modeling (Catia and AutoCad) and happy to learn new software packages. • Lab Experience
• Strong written and oral communication. • Willing to travel domestically and internationally.
Employment History:
GM Powertrain, Castleton, Indiana: Test Engineer indefinitely contracting through Alliance Group Technologies Co. Jan 2011 – Present.
• Job Description: To organize, develop, implement, and lead the testing of pre-production hybrid automatic transmission on a daily basis as
well as collecting, analyzing, interpreting, and presenting results for product development.
• Responsibilities and achievements:
Design, manage, and conduct system level and component level development tests and analyze and interpret results. Tests include:
Mechanical spin loss: Designed an automated test script that measured mechanical inefficiencies in a hybrid transmission across an
array of gear ranges (both hybrid and fixed), operating speeds, operating temperatures, and lubricant flow rates. Then developed a
Matlab script to quickly and reliably process the data into an easily interpretable form to improve future test efficiency.
Clutch self-apply: Developed an automated test script which mimics vehicle shift protocol. This test was designed to determine if the
increased electric motor acceleration would cause a disengaging rotating clutch to self-apply under centrifugal forces.
Oil Aeration: Designed, sourced and purchased parts, and calibrated a piece of test equipment capable of being transported and
implemented with any test cell on site to measure transmission fluid aeration.
Schedule, execute, troubleshoot, and continuously improve transmission durability tests:
Manage durability unit inventory, hardware updates, and test cell availability.
Investigate and report on performance anomalies resulting from updates to controller software or possible hardware malfunction.
Continually modify durability test scripts to improve up time, protect from undesired damage, or to facilitate customer requests.
Collect and analyze vibration data:
Facility did not have trained personnel to operate vibration analysis technology (LMS test.lab software and acquisition hardware).
Learned to operate the hardware and software required to perform NVH analysis and data interpretation. This allowed our test facility
to expand its capabilities and undertake testing that would otherwise need to be conducted elsewhere.
Used vibration analysis in a DFSS project to diagnose noise issue caused by a supplier part in a production differential.
• Computer / Program skills: LMS Test.Lab signature acquisition package (NVH), Matlab, Microsoft Office / Excel, AVL PUMA (Test stand
software), INCA (powertrain controller interface software), Concerto (data processing package), and Measure Data Analyzer (data processing
package).
Allison Transmission Inc, Speedway, Indiana: Quality engineer intern in military division responsible for maintaining test logs and identifying
recurring problems. Worked extensively with others and regularly presented findings. Summer 2008.
Allison Transmission Inc, Speedway, Indiana: Manufacturing engineer intern in medium duty transmission division. Most extensive project
involved analyzing and rewriting lathe cutting paths (G code) to increase production efficiency in manufacturing bottleneck. Summer 2009.
Education:
Purdue University, School of Mechanical Engineering, West Lafayette, Indiana
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and Minor in Mathematics (May 2010)
Graduating GPA: 3.32
• Science, Mathematics, and Engineering coursework: Senior Design (See collaborative design experience section below), System modeling
and controls (two semesters), Mechatronics (electro-mechanical systems), Thermodynamics (two semesters), Machine Design, Fluid

• Collaborative Design Experience: Senior Design Project: Developed a suit to prevent bone density loss in astronauts on extended space
missions via application of controlled mechanical vibrations to the body. Applications also include reduced fracture healing time, osteoporosis
treatment, and pressure sore prevention and treatment in bed ridden patients. Design Placed first in Purdue’s Mallot Innovation Contest and
has provisional patent application pending.
