To the Director of Human Resources:
The contributions I have made on behalf of my previous employers previews what I can
offer to your company.
The drive to focus and achieve: Your firm’s success depends upon the
ability of your staff to grasp a problem, evaluate the best way to solve it,
and then work until the solution is in hand. This is precisely the process
I followed for years.
Flexibility and creativity: A business gets stale when it recycles the
same ideas time and time again. When you hire me, you get someone
who thinks for himself, and who is not afraid to suggest new ways to
approach a task, as I did as one of the 5-member Insulation Survey Team of
our company responsible for lowering steam consumption and energy loss by
installing proper insulation.
The ability to work with a diverse population: Having been raised in
a multiethnic environment, educated in a multicultural institution,
supervising 36 machine operators in the sugar refinery department, 41 production staff
in a pharmaceutical company and 15 production staff in a food manufacturing and
packaging company. I am well equipped to interact productively with customers and staff
from a variety of backgrounds, with a range of priorities, and from the stockroom to
senior management.
Ambitious and willing to take calculated risk: Rather than stick to a job that pay the
bills but would teach a little of practice value, I chose to open and operate a
manufacturing business. I research and develop processes, implement SOP’s based on
GMP and 5S system, applied for GMP and HACCP certification, train staff, develop
marketing program, borrowed money to cover start-up cost and replaced in full after one
year.
As you can see, I am goal oriented, driven, and not afraid of hard work --
qualifications vital to anyone who will be a productive staff member for your firm, as I
would like to be.
I would welcome the chance to work with you as a Chemical Engineer or as a
Production Supervisor which ever you feel I may be more qualified. I certainly would
take the job very seriously, proving an asset to the company.
Sincerely,
John Alfred V. Villa
