specialists, radiologists and a laboratory. Interns
are involved in prescription intake, insurance
verification, physician calls, and MTM/patient
counseling. I worked part-time 10-15 hours/wk during
the school year and full-time 40 hours/wk during
summers and holidays.

Description: The hospital is part of the Catholic Health System. As
intern pharmacists, we review pharmacy orders in the
que, compound and reconstitute IV fluids/medications
and TPN's and help resolve patient medicine
reconciliation forms. There are also clinical duties
to fulfill, which include reviewing and monitoring
the appropriateness of medication regiments, dosing
antibiotics and assisting with the antibiotic
stewardship program. Interns also fill orders and
make rounds on the floors and deliver medications as
needed when the technicians are not available.
