of Macon State's musical teachers (and accomplished mezzo soprano) Rebecca Lanning performed operatic

and theatric songs with Melanie Cross-Buckner on piano.

This was my second monthly assignment for JOUR 3131 in Feb. 2011. For this exercise, I recorded Micala

Sidore's presentation on the history of tapestry. She did an excellent job on it, and JOUR 3131 was impressed

by it.

Honor in Equality: My Interview with Sgt. Danny Ingram

In 2011, as part of my film project, I interviewed Sgt. Danny Ingram, an Army veteran who was discharged in

1994 as a result of "Don't ask, don't tell" (DADT), a military policy which banned openly-LGBT people from

serving in the United States Armed Forces.

Though he was discharged, Ingram joined the GLBVA (now the American Veterans for Equal Rights), of

which he became president in 2009. Continuing the organization's work in campaigning for legalization and

decriminalization of open service by lesbian, gay and bisexual servicemembers, Ingram has seen the DADT

law repealed under U.S. President Obama.

The interview took place at Sgt. Ingram's home in Decatur only months after the 2010 repeal of DADT took

effect on September 23 and was first publicly presented at the Macon State College Film Festival 2011.
