Dear Sir/Madam,

I am a graduate of the University of Toronto with a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering. I

have had previous work experience at Aviya Technologies Inc. as a Value Engineer contracting

for Honeywell for 16 months. During my working term with Honeywell, I maintained, updated

and managed savings tracking for multiple Engineering projects. I also collaborated with

Electrical/Mechanical Engineers and financial departments to produce cost saving initiatives. I

also performed technical analysis for projects to analyze risk and reward of pursuing an

opportunity. I managed a series of seven projects and coordinated with Engineers, Managers,

Suppliers and my own Value Engineering team. I have extensive experience requesting for

quotations and interfacing between suppliers and onsite Engineers. I also have experience

reviewing and assessing engineering drawings. During the summer of 2011, I worked with the

City of Toronto, Transportation Services, for 4 months to supervise and verify measurements at

onsite road maintenance. I also assisted city inspectors at various road construction sites to

conduct enforcement activities. During this position, I experienced interacting with the public,

law enforcement, the construction crew and non-Electrical disciplines such as Mechanical,

Structural and Civil Engineers. In addition, I worked as a Fund Raiser with the Canadian Red

Cross for four months, which required advanced communication and advance presentation skills.

I possess a wide range of Electrical, Computer and Civil Engineering skills. I have strong

technical and computer background and extensive experience with C++, C, Assembly, Verilog

Windows, MS words, MS Excel, MS Access, MS Outlook, and Power Point. I also have

experience using Electronic equipment such as Oscilloscopes, Function Generators, DE2 boards,

Circuit boards, Capacitors, Inductors, Resistors and Transistors. I have further experience using

power electronic equipment like breakers, high capacitance tools, AC/DC converters and various

brushless motors. I have also acquired lab experience working in a Class 100 Cleanroom.

I possess strong communication, problem-solving, analytical skills along with well-developed

time management and organizational capabilities. I am a person with well-developed

interpersonal skills that can be used to interact effectively with both a business and technical

person. Throughout my experience I have developed strong written, verbal and presentation

skills. In addition, I have knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations,

the Ontario Electrical safety code, Workplace Hazardous Material Information System (WHMIS)

and the skills to read a Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS). I am an adept and eager learner with

strong writing and typing skills. I am also bilingual with the ability to speak English and Chinese

fluently.

It would be greatly appreciated, if you may consider me as a candidate for this position. Thank

you very much.

Best Regards, Zhiyao (Jimmy) Ma
