Project Description:
CES is basically Cost Estimation System (CES) which supports the
needs of manufacturing functions within PEARSON. Along with this it
performs the low cost vendor analysis by specifying the required
quantity using GSR scales, calculates accurate paper requirements,
refines existing pricing mechanism and enable pricing for the
various other components available in CES, provides easy Paper
selection process - present available paper choices for a given
vendor and its associated prices to the buyers, provides visibility
of back-order title status to buyers, defines printing movement to
another vendor for print movements, defines spec templates to be
used for copying specifications to other title printings. This
application is the most critical application of PCS Team (Pearson
Client) as it interacts with all other applications (PCS) and
systems (SAP & UOPS). As this is associated with Cost and Orders
thus it was the most critical application and required all the
issues to be resolved on priority basis at earliest.

Project Description:
PPS is the Publishing Planning System which is the most important
application of PCS as the Product (Book) life cycle starts from
this application. Through this the various analysis are done on the
basis of which final decisions of printing a book are taken. The
PPS was an existing application for US client only but in PPS-ELT
we customized the existing PPS Application considering ELT (English
Language User's) requirements. We also provided added features of
having access to various financial reports through Web by
integrating Present and Java which was highly appreciated and liked
by client. Also we managed running the Java servers in cluster mode
for this application so that performance of the application is not
affected during heavy load periods. I was responsible for all the
backend (Sybase) coding involved in reports so that reports are
accurate and precise. As on the basis of data through the reports
generated the product finalization is done so it formed the very
critical part in the project.
Responsibilities:
