EXPERIENCE

Software Engineer, Symantec, CA, USA (Nov 2010 – Current)

Worked on multiple releases of the eDiscovery Platform, an electronic discovery solution that enables enterprises to manage legal, regulatory and investigative matters using a single application.

Created a non-blocking, multithreaded report generation framework. With this feature customers could generate multiple reports in parallel and at the same time continue to use the product. This feature significantly improved productivity for our customers.

Email threading is one of the major features in the eDiscovery product which allows for emails with similar context to be grouped together. Added foreign language support (German, Dutch, French) and ensured that the feature was configuration driven to support additional languages in the future.

Modified the process of metadata lookup (such as file path and size) from XML configuration file to a MySQL based solution. This unified metadata in one location and reduced the cost of code maintenance.

Added auto detection of encoding for customer input files. This eliminated the need for customer to provide the encoding type and also prevented pilot errors.

Improved error handling and generated reports based on the same. This helped our customers quickly troubleshoot any problems with their input data files.

Notable achievements include receiving an award for handling tough customer care issues and a spot bonus for completion of foreign language support for email threading under tough deadlines.
