The warehouse is UDB 8.3 on Aix 5.3 running on clustered 4-way p650’s with 32 GB memory each and NetApp SAN. Analysis showed that the file system mapping to the volumes and the table space mapping to the file systems needed to be redone. Dropped the old warehouse (1.3 TB), re-architected and built the new warehouse. The overnight batch went from running 9-11 hours in the old warehouse to running in less than 2 hours with the new architecture.
DECEMBER 2003 TO APRIL 2005- DEUTSCHE BANK
SENIOR DATABASE CONSULTANT- Led the UDB Migration Project migrating 38 databases from the mainframe to a P650 running DB2 UDB 8.1 and AIX 5.2 64-bit. The databases were placed in a partitioned UDB environment. Architected and implemented the development, production, HA and DR, UAT and DEV environments on 3 separate P650s. Designed the storage layouts, created the instances and databases, performed partitioning analysis, performance tuning, applied fixpaks, trained resident DBAs. Performed HA and DR testing, implemented incremental backups and archival logging using TSM. Assisted application group with batch and online testing. Wrote Korn shell scripts for backups, the purge process, statistics, and many miscellaneous scripts.
MARCH 2003 TO DECEMBER 2003- KROGER
SENIOR DATABASE CONSULTANT- The production warehouse is 48 partitions on 24 Winterhawk nodes in the SP2 complex supporting a 10 TB data warehouse on ESS Shark using HACMP with a BRIO front-end. Worked on performance and query tuning. Created new environment by installing DB2 UDB ESE V8 and fixpak2 on P690. Added partitions to the development and integration environments (which reside on an SP2) on this P690 environment. Built a new schema in the warehouse to be used for OLAP processing. Setup the DB2 Governor and the DB2 Auditor to run in test and production environments and wrote scripts to report weekly on activity. Analyzed memory configurations in the test environment for future tuning.
DECEMBER 2001 TO SEPTEMBER 2002- SEABURY & SMITH
SENIOR DATABASE CONSULTANT- This is a return engagement to Seabury (see July 1999) to redistribute the Marketing Data warehouse across new RAID 5 arrays on UDB EEE v7.2, troubleshoot performance problems, and provide direction for future growth of the warehouse.
