Career Objective
To launch my professional career with an environmental consulting firm where my skill set in water
remediation, soil sampling, toxicology analysis, customer service and teamwork will make significant
contributions to sustainable growth.
Education
San Francisco State University 2012- Bachelor of Science in Geology
Relevant courses: hydrogeology, ground water contamination, geologic field techniques, field methods,
sedimentology and stratigraphy, climate change, mineralogy and petrology, quantitative geology,
environmental problems and solutions, chemistry, physics, calculus
Grossmont Community College 2009- Art History
Academic Honors and Awards
NSF Climate Change Scholarship: For 2012 senior thesis on Pliocene analogs for future climate
change predictions
Dean’s List- Fall 2011 -Spring 2012
Science and Mathematics Access to Retain Talent (SMART) Grant- Spring 2010–Spring 2011
Scientific Experience
Undergraduate Researcher- Spring 2011 - Spring 2012. Senior thesis project: Upwelling conditions
along the California Margin during the early Pliocene warm period.
Paleoceanography Laboratory Graduate Assistant- Fall 2010 - Spring 2012. Research project:
Reconstructing the thermocline depth in the south Atlantic subtropical gyre. Identified and collected
different foraminifera species, made sediment standards using organic chemical extractions and
running those samples through a gas chromatographer- mass spectrometer (GC-MS) and applying
software to document chemical makeup.
Professional Skills
OSHA 40 Hour HAZWOPER Training Certified.
Moderate experience with PHREEQC and MODFLOW.
Extensive field work and research including but not limited to soil and sediment descriptions, field
notes and reports, mapping and measurements using a Brunton Compass.
Created smear slides at Moss Landing Marine Laboratories (MLML)
Worked with a Beckman-Coulter laser particle size analyzer for grain size analysis at MLML.
Extensive microscope experience that included different phytoplankton identification and collection,
smear slide analysis and mineral identification with percent coverage.
Performed chemical extractions in order to make sediment standards that included using and
preparing methalene-chloride-methanol and spiked toluene. Other chemicals used in lab included
chloroform, hexanes, hydrazine, citric acid, hydrochloric acid and sodium hydroxide.
Microsoft Office: able to gather and input complicated data and organize it in a clear, coherent matter.
2 years of upper management experience leading and coaching a sales team.
Maintained a 36 hour work week as a researcher and as a manager at a local café to support myself
