Research Area: “CO2 Sequestration through Mineral Carbonation in Alkaline Wastes”.
Objective of the doctoral thesis was to assess the CO2 storage capacity achievable in different alkaline waste residue expressed in
terms of mass gain, degree of carbonation and %CO2 captured and methods to enhance carbonation in wastes.
Presented Research Proposal worth $500K entitled “Carbon Sequestration by Mineral Carbonation in alkaline industrial waste”
to a committee of 10 distinguished scientists and was accepted under National program on Carbon Sequestration Research .
Modified the “LANDGEM” model for carbon credit calculations that resulted economic benefits of $500K for Conventional
Landfill and $600K for Bioreactor Landfill every year.
Analyzed waste management practices, management of dangerous waste in hospital and performed background data analysis for
calculating waste generation per day per patient.
Guided a project of 7 graduate students studying the feasibility of degree of carbonation in alkaline waste in India .
