EXPERIENCE
Great Falls Tribune, Entertainment reporter, copy editor (2008-2014)
Through my tenacious reporting and creative writing skills, I revamped the
section into what is now the most-read part of the entire newspaper. Prioritized
multiple projects with tight deadlines and wrote between 12 to 15 articles
weekly. I instilled a passion for the arts into each of my articles and guided
readers to what's worth checking out. Collaborated with the social networking
team to provide an innovative presence on Facebook and Twitter.
Redding Record Searchlight, copy editor (2007-2008)
As chief copy editor, mastered proofreading, and fact checking responsibilities
and led a team of six desk workers. Inspected copy for factual, grammatical,
spelling and design errors. Communicated with reporters and editors about story
placement, teasers and photograph sizes. Collaborated with fellow copy editors in
helping to tighten our organization's contents.
Anaconda Leader, sports editor (2006-2007)
Scheduled interviews, wrote up to 10 articles per week for the sports section,
designed visually appealing pages, edited other writers' copy and informed the
public about what sports teams in the community were doing. Traveled to events
and gained expertise in using multiple Microsoft Office programs. Helped double
the number of subscribers while employed.
Reno Gazette-Journal, intern (2005)
While an intern, I wrote engaging feature articles, filed data entries, took phone
calls about subscriptions, shot photos, interviewed employees for monthly
newsletter and was tasked with occasional copy editing shift.
