• Independent research using GIS tools to analyze poverty data, solar radiation potential, grid proximity and population density to
assess the solar feasibility for counties in Kenya. Created suitability map to identify best candidates for microgrid electrification.
Presented study protocol and results at the 2014 national meeting of the Association of American Geographers.

• Original field research on distribution of invasive plant species in southwest Ohio; Utilized GIS and remote sensing techniques,
designed experiments and sampling plans. Surveyed over 50 plots for 4 different species. Data analysis via traditional statistical

• Geneseo Oak Tree Population and Dispersal--Original field research on dispersal and health of the local oak
tree population; Conducted sampling, measuring and recording of data; utilized GIS software and aerial images.
• Emerald Ash Borer Research and Teaching Assistant--Led high school science students in collecting and analyzing
data on emerald ash borer tree sites in Geneseo NY; Instructed students in basic GIS principles.
• Ocracoke North Carolina Ordinance Code--Researched multiple town and county zoning ordinance polices; synthesized
findings to create a comprehensive plan for the town zoning office in Ocracoke, NC.
