treatment, follow-up plans, and education in patient records of both paper and electronic
form. Proficient in several Electronic Medical Record (EMR) programs including Epic.
In dermatology, I performed skin cancer checks and assisted in excision of nevi, observed
many MOHS procedures, and helped manage many chronic skin conditions (acne,
eczema, psoriasis, verruca vulgaris, rosacea, etc.)
In surgery, I was involved as a surgical first and second assist in C-section deliveries,
appendectomies, joint replacements, etc. and learned how to intubate patients with
endotracheal tubes and debride wounds while participating in pre-op and post-op care
In pediatrics, performed new-born and well child histories and physical exams (including
Denver II assessments, strep screens, ear irrigations, school physicals, asthma action
plans) while communicating with parents about behavioral expectations, safety and
accident prevention, proper nutrition, and developmental milestones
In the ER, I ordered labs, diagnostics, fluids, and medications after performing focused
histories and physicals (cardiac arrests, pelvic exams, fractures with splint application,
suturing of lacerations) and then helped with lab, EKG, XRAY and CT interpretation
In geriatrics, I obtained history and physical exams for both returning and new patients
while ordering/interpreting labs and diagnostics, managing medications, explaining
routine health care and nutrition, and also participating in daily hospital rounds.
In family medicine, I focused on health management of HIV/AIDS patients and opiate
dependent patients, which were the clinics’ focuses, but also managed routine follow-ups
for diabetes and hypertension, including appropriately adapting the medication regimen
In behavioral health at the Navy training base, I spoke with new recruits about their
transition to the US Navy, formulating appropriate DSM-IV diagnoses and helping them
with conditions such as anxiety, depression, antisocial disorder, PTSD, bipolar disorder
In women’s health, I obtained gynecologic and obstetrical histories, counseled on birth
