Intern, Scale-up bioreactors and quality assurance 2007
Preparation of bacterial/viral cultures for large bioreactors for vaccine production.
Performing quality assurance on batches of biologics in hepatitis, measles and rabies vaccine units.
UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS, SCHOOL OF PUBLIC HEALTH HOUSTON, TX
Graduate Research Assistant, Laboratory for Diarrheal Diseases Aug 2012 - Dec 2013
Independently developed research project by researching scientific literature on eterotoxigenic E. coli.
Generated new data on the prevalence of toxins and characterized these toxins from enterotoxigenic E.coli
(ETEC) isolates collected from Asia and Latin America. The data from these experiments will aid in
development of a vaccine candidate for ETEC.
Performed hierarchical data analysis to determine genetic clusters of these isolates and established genetic
relatedness between isolates collected from different geographies around the world.
Mentored 2 master's degree students on their thesis, teaching and helping them on experimental designs.
Graduate Research Assistant, Laboratory for Zoonotic and Viral Diseases Sept 2008 - Jan 2010
Successfully identified and published on an outbreak of Dengue fever in Houston between 2003-2005 using
tissue culture, DNA based assays and collecting data through patient surveys.
Provided training to students and lab personnel in tissue and virus culture techniques after establishing a new
tissue culture facility in the laboratory.
Teaching Assistant (Courses: Fundamentals of Epidemiology and Public Health Surveillance) Jan 2011 - Dec 2011
Provided weekly tuitions to individual and or group of students outside of class time.
Taught 2 classes during each semester and graded assignments, exams and created class presentations.
