Responsible for Purchasing/Sourcing Department Staff - Raw materials and
Finished Goods, Company strategic goals, 10 year, 3 year, and 1 year, and

Accomplishments: In the first 12 months I've led the team to $425K in cost
reduction initiatives, implemented supplier contracting, created a supplier
scorecard, supplier audit process, created two sourcing strategies for
critical parts and trained the Purchasing Team in negotiations, strategies,
audits and sourcing. Team is now training in consolidated supply to lower
inventories and increase inventory turns. I have implemented a Total Cost
of Ownership model to assist team in make vs buy decisions and domestic vs
international decisions. I am now training my team in solutions processes

2005-2010 - 3M PROJECT LEAD (ISP) Sourcing Specialist - Integrated Supplier
Program - ISP (travel 40-75%). Full responsibility of project management
at each facility: Implementation through start-up. This requires detailed
spend analysis of all MRO, stock and non-stock items, site services and
contracted suppliers, bid solicitation, supplier classification,
negotiating contract with ISP, presentation to plant management and staff,
determining "scope" of purchases and providing guidance and leadership to
the plants before, during, and after implementation. Provide leadership
and conflict resolution between 3M facility and Integrated Supplier.
Commodity strategies for Fuel and Indirect spend.
ACCOMPLISHMENTS: I was the only Project Lead to successfully implement the
IS Program at 3M. All other IS programs were unable to get through Hyper
care. Provided Fuel Commodity Strategy to enable 3M to budget for
consistent pricing by utilizing half contracts so 3M was able to "freeze"
fuel price and ensure no excess inventory.
(3M) 2004 - 2005 CHEMICAL SOURCING AGENT - Sourcing and supplier
management of chemical spend for production, including these commodities;
Isocyanates, Polyols, MDI, TDI, Inorganics, Acids, Plasticizers, Chemical
Distribution, Methanol, Process Oils, Waxes, pharmaceuticals, medical and
lab chemicals. Average yearly spend is $66 million. Sole responsibility
for contract negotiation and management of my assigned commodities
including special emphasis on dual sourcing with cost competitive
countries.
ACCOMPLISHMENTS: $372,000 in cost savings in the first 6 months of 2005.
Negotiated and implemented contracts for two vulnerable products, stearly
alcohol and Naphthenic oil. Co-leader of a project estimated to save
$272,000 for the Medical division. Six Sigma Green Belt trained.
SAF PRODUCTS, Mpls, MN
1999 - 2001- Logistics/Customer Service Manager - Directed all purchasing
and responsible for inventory levels. Worked with FDA, addressed labeling
issues. Worked with suppliers on ingredients and food processing issues.
Interacted with customers and suppliers in Mexico, France, Belgium and
England, negotiated all agreements for multi-modal transport to twenty-two
warehouses in the US and Canada. Negotiated rates and maintenance
contracts for all warehouses. Customer Service and Logistics Staff (5)
reported to me. (Travel 15-20%) Visit customer locations for consultations
on warehouse concerns, and with suppliers to discuss delivery performance
and resolve issues, visit warehouse locations to ensure proper storage of
product and conditions upon delivery. This company relocated to Milwaukee.
I was offered a position but elected to remain in Minnesota.
ACCOMPLISHMENTS: New rates for truck, air and ocean freight, changed
customs brokers for a cost savings of $10.00 per entry from Europe and
implemented a new broker for our Canadian warehouses saving $30.00 per
entry. Sourced new broker for customs clearance from Mexico at cost
savings of $40.00 per entry, or $40K first year. I brought the inventory
levels down in all the warehouses in the United States to less than 2% over
the actual usage.
OUTDOOR TECHNOLOGIES GROUP, (OTG) SP. Lake, IA
Oct 1986 - Feb 1998
Import Manager, responsible for all subsidiaries, import/export,
transportation contracts, customs brokerage contracts, and domestic
trucking. I imported from Korea, China, Japan, Taiwan, Sweden, Mexico,
Canada and India, including ensuring proper documentation, requiring
binding rulings from customs and answering any customs queries, extensive
involvement with customer meetings to enable me to understand product
lines, time constraints and delivery methods. I negotiated all rates,
including brokerage and was solely responsible for my budget and
accounting. I also managed US to Canada export process including training
staff in NAFTA.
ACCOMPLISHMENTS: During my tenure as Import Manager I negotiated new
air/ocean rates and brokerage fees saving the company over $500,000.
Master Scheduler - Co-leader with responsibility for $65M production plan.
(travel 25%) Inspect global facilities to ensure suppliers were meeting
quality expectations, schedule production for these factories using MRP,
and checking that capacities could be met. I also attended customer
meetings to assist with delivery methods, quality issues, and proper
scheduling to ensure supply pipelines were filled. Had sole responsibility
for the electronic letters of credit to foreign suppliers ($7million
budget). Implemented Kan-ban to ensure plants could meet strict customer
delivery requirements. Assisted with EDI implementation and worked with
sales team to ensure that the strident requirements of Wal-Mart, Kmart and
other large customers were met. Ensured strict inventory levels were
maintained.
ACCOMPLISHMENTS: Worked in facilities in Taiwan, Korea, Japan and Sweden
to ensure smooth production and on time delivery, by managing production
schedules and capacity constraints to achieve a 100% on time delivery
record. Co-led a four-person team to set up a trading company, saving on
excise tax.
Buyer, responsible for some MRO supplies, packaging for my product lines,
clothing and promotional items. I also negotiated pricing, delivery dates
(JIT), and cost reductions, by examining our suppliers' production
management and purchasing capabilities. At this time I was also solely
responsible for letters of credit to our corporate suppliers.
ACCOMPLISHMENTS: sourced new suppliers to reduce my lead-time on one
product from 90 days to 30 days and negotiated price decreases on two
promotional items.
