RESEARCH EXPERIENCE
Biology Co-op at GlaxoSmithKline, King of Prussia P.A July 2013 -
June 2014
. Working in the Respiratory R&D, specifically in the Stress and
Repair DPU. Currently I am conducting various experiments to
understand how ROS causes mitochondrial dysfunction and how it
pertains to respiratory diseases such as COPD.
. Plan weekly experiments around the team's objectives and
interests.
. Meet individually with my manager to talk about my current data
and my next experiments.
. Participate in project meetings biweekly and attend monthly
presentations on current research data.
. Write out thorough protocols, collect data, and organize
experiments in a notebook and provide analysis on results.
Skills and techniques: DNA and RNA isolation and analysis, qPCR using
Taqman and ViiA, rtPCR, cell tissue culture, Comet assay, Biochemical
assays, ELISA assays, high content imaging (Operetta), gel electrophoresis,
siRNA transfection, BacMam transduction, fluorescence staining, microscopy,
spectophotometery using Envision and plate readers, tissue
dissociation/cell isolation via GentleMACS, cell fractionation and
centrifugation, in vivo work with mice and rats.
Biology Intern at Temple University, S.H.R.O Aug.
2011 to May 2013
. Focused on Pin1 protein analysis through understanding the
oncogenic effect Pin1 has on other proteins by observing cell
proliferation in various cancer cell lines.
. Participated in project meetings and gave monthly presentations on
current research data.
. Collected data and organized experiments in a notebook and
provided analysis on results.
Skills and techniques: Western Blot, PCR, gel electrophoresis, SDS-PAGE,
fluorescence staining, photo development, cell tissue culture, microscopy,
UV and visible spectophotometry, cell fractionation, and genotyping.
ACTIVITIES/SKILLS
. Russian as a second language.
. Computer knowledge with Mac's and PC's using Microsoft Excel,
Works, PowerPoint, eLNB, GraphPad Prism 5, ViiA RUO 7, Harmony
. Founder of Owls for Israel.
