Mountain States Health Alliance - Smyth County Community Hospital

Responsibilities include installation, configuration and maintenance of

network hardware/software within the Medical Center as well as other MSHA

Virginia Hospitals and surrounding clinics.

Major accomplishments include:

. Shutdown of former hospital facility and replacement of equipment as

needed to all VA. facilities

. Installation of Cisco Voice/IP equipment at area facilities to include

a CER package for 911

. Fiber conversion to single mode fiber and redundancy to cut away

former facility

applications. This included selection and implementation of new

applications and databases; integration and interfacing of applications

within the overall hospital-wide network; evaluation, testing, and

installation of software upgrades; software certification and validation.

Responsibility included ensuring adequate and continual operation of

Data/Voice Networks and management of IS personnel. Was liaison between IS

and vendor technical support concerning system issues and outages.

Responsible for creating and managing capital/operating budget of site's IS

Department.

Reported directly to IS Director, responsible for the operation and

management of a 350+ device LAN/WAN. Supervise all hardware/network

technicians. Worked closely with hospital management and medical staff to

ensure IT needs/issues were addressed in a timely manner, utilizing task

management and prioritization skills. Maintained

LAN/WAN/Desktop/Communications documentation. Responsible for system

administration of 20+ servers, as well as system wide backup and disaster

recovery.

Major accomplishments include:

. Coordinated and assisted with two successful deployments of 250

desktops in 2001 & 2003

2005: Switched to Nortel core switches and Nortel 450 switches in

Reporting directly to VP of Accounting, was responsible for a 250+ device

LAN/WAN. Worked closely with all facets of the manufacturing environment

and successfully managed all daily Information Systems support activities.

Also, managed two staff members supporting 5 locations.

. Responsible for developing ongoing upgrade path for MRP system and

Information Systems assets

. Coordinated and relocated MRP (MCBA) system out of Birmingham, Alabama

. Upgraded entire network architecture from CAT3 to CAT5 cabling and
