Alcoa Excel Extrusion - Warren, OH - July 2000 to May 2008

when I joined Alcoa I was a saw helper in which me and another helper would take product which was mainly

aluminum window linings or frames and placed in steel rack. I quickly learned how to run saw and was able to

set length cut and measure product, after 4 months I was giving the oppurtunity to learn how to die head, which

meant retrieving dies out of hot box and set up to be inserted into press, I was pretty much the press operators

helper. I also had to take spent dies or dies that the orders had been filled out of press and break them down

I also put them together, after 2 years of this I was running the press which was a state of the art at the time

aluminum extrusion press which consisted of two puller devices that pulled the product straight out of the die

down a roller table, when puller stopped I cut aluminum with propane torch which later was replaced with

automatic saw for safety reasons. I was in charge of breaking out dies using just enough pressure and speed

then place product into puller for pulling, once order was done we changed out dies and began another we did

about 12 die changes a night. There were about 200 buttons on press console and I was to learn all of them

and eventually co wrote a press manual with another operator so that future operators could learn quicker,

after 2 years of running press I was given the opurtunity to be a specialist which meant I would be running

my own crew which was 7 people I was in charge of putting orders together and putting production reports in

database, also filled in where I was needed I filled in for supervisor on night shift for months at a time in which I

was in charse of 3 presses all having 7 people running them. I was in charge of daily production reports safety

circle topics before every shift start I got to be familiar with the tru view prints which was a database where I
